Souvenirs

The best Dominican souvenirs

The country's tourist zones offer tourists numerous boutiques and souvenir shops, where you can buy various products made of wood, bone, amber, larimar, ceramics, coffee, rum, cigars, Tainos Indian souvenirs, Creole dolls.

The most popular rum brands are produced by Tremya B, Bermudez, Barcelo and Brugal. The most famous varieties: Aniversario, Don Armando (at Bermúdez); Barceló Cream, Añejo, Gran Añejo, Gran Platinum, Imperial (from Barceló) and Añejo, Extra Viejo, XV, Titanium (from Brugal).

The most popular cigars are made by Ashton, La Aurora, Macanudo, Arturo Fuente and Montecristo. Do not buy cigars from street or beach vendors, they will most likely be fake. Good quality genuine cigars cost between $ 4 and $ 15 or more per item.

Fans of Latin American dances can buy discs with salsa and marenghe as a keepsake.

In Santo Domingo, there are the largest commercial centers, where you can buy clothes, shoes, light industry products from national and foreign firms of good quality and at affordable prices. When buying, you can bargain.

Hotels

In the Dominican Republic, all hotels are classified and have an official star rating. As a rule, this classification corresponds to the list of services provided by the hotel. A characteristic feature of rest in almost all hotels is the "all inclusive - all inclusive" catering system. included three meals a day, snacks at any time, local drinks (any), beach non-motorized entertainment.

Guests of one complex can travel from one hotel to another hotel, but clients of another complex will not be allowed to enter someone else's territory. You need to buy a Guest Card worth 60-80 US dollars. If tourists want to visit the SPA center located in another hotel, then TEZ TOUR guides will come to the rescue. In such cases, the guides negotiate with the nearest hotel with spa services, and tourists are met at the entrance to the hotel and escorted to the spa center. In this case, the client pays only for the use of the spa.

Transport

There is no bus service in Bavaro and Punta Cana. If you wish to leave the hotel grounds, you can only travel by taxi. Taxis in Playa Bavaro are not difficult to find. As a rule, taxi ranks are located at the entrance to each complex, or a taxi is called to a tourist at the hotel reception or a porter - this service is free. The fare is a little strange: 1 minute - $ 1. At the same time, taxi drivers do not have a taximeter. There is also a motto concho, a motorcycle taxi. We do not recommend using this type of transport due to its insecurity.

sample migration card

For Russian tourists, there are preferential rules for entering the Dominican Republic - Russians will be able to relax in this country without a visa, provided that the trip is of a tourist nature and lasts no more than 30 days.

The list of documents required for a visit to the Dominican Republic is very laconic:

  • Passport valid throughout the entire residence in the state;
  • Return tickets;
  • Tourist card (purchased for each tourist, including children);
  • (to be filled in upon arrival). Information is entered in block letters in Latin. The blank card is handed out on the plane, there is no need to pre-fill the paper.

Tourist card

When entering the state, travelers are required to buy a tourist card (Tarjeta del tourista). Its cost is 10 dollars or 10 euros (the tourist himself chooses). The card can be purchased in advance at the Consulate, but the price will be slightly higher - $ 15. The service of buying a card online is also available on the website www.dgii.gov.do... After payment, the card should be printed and saved, it will be needed when passing through passport control in the Dominican Republic. The card remains valid for one year after purchase, but can only be used by one person only once.

For kids

Children travel on their own passports, starting at the age of 14. Younger minors can be entered on their parents' passports. If a child travels to the Dominican Republic with only one parent, you will need consent to leave the Russian Federation from the second with a notarized translation into Spanish. Such a document is necessary, but already from the father and from the mother, if the child leaves alone or with a third person, for example, with a grandmother. If the family is incomplete, you will need a document confirming the absence of the second parent (death certificate, certificate of a single mother, court decision on deprivation of rights to a child, and so on).

When passing through passport control, you must have the originals of the consent and birth certificate of the child with you.

Extension of the period of stay

When entering the country without a visa, you can stay in the country for up to 30 days. Subsequently, this the term can be easily extended up to 3 months- it is enough to go to the nearest police station and pay a state fee of 2500 DOP (about $ 55).

It should be borne in mind that in any case, when leaving the country, a tax fee of $ 20 is paid, often this amount is already included in the air ticket price.

Tourist visa

If a trip to the Dominican Republic is not related to a beach vacation, and a visit here is justified by participation in utilitarian events, which are all kinds of conferences, seminars and symposia, then you will need tourist visa... The consulate of the country opens single and multiple entry documents.

Single entries are issued for 60 days and are further extended for a similar period if the applicant wishes. Multiple entries are valid for 4 months and allow you to enter the Dominican Republic an unlimited number of times.

Tourist visa it will also be needed if the traveler's plans include a longer vacation than the visa-free regime allows.

The prepared documents, the list of which is indicated below, should be submitted personally to the Consulate located in Moscow at the address: Rublevskoe shosse, 26, building 1, office 211. Papers are accepted on weekdays from 11.00 to 15.00.

Financial soundness documents

Tourists can confirm their solvency by providing a certificate of employment and a bank statement on the account, where there are funds in the amount of more than $ 1,000 for each participant in the trip, and by attaching copies of American Express checks. If the applicant does not have such papers, then it is prepared sponsorship letter, which is drawn up in free form and signed personally by the sponsor. A proof of the sponsor's solvency is attached to the document - a bank statement, in which an amount of at least $ 1,000 (per traveler) must be recorded.

All documentation must have a legal translation into Spanish, with the exception of a passport and a bank certificate (if it is made in English), notarization is not required.

Consular fee

The amount of the fee directly depends on the multiplicity and urgency of the visa:

  • Single entry visa for 10 days - $ 115;
  • One-time entry for 5 days - $ 150;
  • Multiple entry in 7 days - $ 210;

Work Visa

The Dominican Republic is distinguished by comfortable living conditions and a stable level of economic development, which attracts foreign specialists from all over the world. Russians in this regard are no exception, moreover, the Russian-speaking population makes up a significant part of the immigrants of this country.

The Dominican Republic is a resort state that annually receives tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world. To simplify the procedure for the entry of tourists, it was decided to cancel the visa regime for those who plan to stay in the country for less than 30 days. The only document that tourists need to issue upon entry is the Dominican Republic migration card. It is issued for registration of a foreigner on the territory of the republic and is valid for 1 month from the date of entry.

Entry rules to the Dominican Republic

Despite the fact that the Dominican Republic has canceled visas for tourists, everyone will have to comply with some formalities upon entry. The main point is the registration of a migration card. This document gives a foreigner the right to cross the state border and legally stay in the country for 30 days.

If a foreign citizen plans to stay in the Dominican Republic for more than one month, or such a need has arisen upon arrival, you should apply for a visa. Otherwise, after 30 days, the stay of a foreigner in the republic will become illegal.

Another prerequisite for entering the Dominican Republic is the presence of a special tourist card. From April 19, 2018, its cost is included in the ticket price, which must be marked accordingly. In any case, you can buy a travel card right at the airport for $ 10 before the start of passport control.

Thus, a Russian or other foreign citizen who arrived in the Dominican Republic without a visa must have with him:

  1. An international passport, the validity of which covers the entire period of stay in the country.
  2. Confirmation of hotel reservation or travel voucher.
  3. Return air ticket with a departure date within 30 days.
  4. Migration card.
  5. Tourist map.

If you need to apply for a visa to the Consulate of the Dominican Republic, you will have to submit a package of certain papers. Probably required. You can make it in St. Petersburg at the agency "From a half-word".

Filling in the migration card

At the time of passing the border control, the migration card must be completed and ready for verification. You can get the form and prepare the document on the plane. The crew members of the aircraft are responsible for the issue, who must issue a form and answer questions about filling out if passengers have them. If necessary, you can ask for a sample of filling out a migration card to the Dominican Republic.

If you could not fill out the form on the way, you can do this at the airport upon arrival before entering the passport control area, where there is also an example of filling out a migration card.

The "migration card" is filled in in duplicate for each foreign citizen, regardless of age. One sheet is kept by the border control officers, and with the second a foreigner enters the country.

Tourist card

The tourist card is a paper form that costs 10 dollars or 10 euros. The card is purchased already on the territory of the Dominican Republic at the border control points. But this card can also be bought at the diplomatic mission of this republic in the country of actual residence of a foreign citizen. However, it should be borne in mind that then its cost will be equal to $ 15.

So, a visa to the Dominican Republic is NOT needed for Russians! Hooray! But there are some rules here too.

Upon arrival and departure, such wonderful musicians usually work at the airport, who always raise the mood - you immediately get charged with positive and Caribbean spirit 🙂

To enter the territory of the Dominican Republic you need to have:

  1. passport valid for the duration of the trip
  2. air ticket with a return flight from the Dominican Republic to any country, within 30 days
  3. travel voucher or hotel reservation
  4. migration card (issued at the airport or on the plane, and you fill it out)
  5. tourist card "tarjeta del tourista" (tourist card can be bought in front of the passport control zone, costs 10 USD or 10 EURO). From 19.04.18, a tourist card was included in the cost of air tickets (this information must be on your ticket).

What is a migration card?

A piece of paper that no one even reads. Once I did an experiment and filled it with the words from a song. And what do you think? Nobody even paid attention! But I don't advise you to do that. Still, after 12 hours of flight, I want to quickly get to the warm ocean and to rum, and not fill out the cards a hundred times. And then suddenly you come across a responsible Dominican. It's hard to believe, but what if ...

So, before passing the border at the Dominican airport, you need to fill out a migration card. They are usually distributed by airport employees. Now they began to distribute it already on the plane. The card is filled in for each person entering, including the child.
