Who invented the game of hide and seek. Five endings of "hide and seek"

  • 04.07.2020

Hide and seek is one of the most popular games for kids. Kids of all ages love this game. Our grandmothers also played it, and our grandchildren will play.

It is believed that this game originated in England. With the arrival of spring, adults went out into the fields, meadows, forests and looked for “hidden” signs of spring there. They were flowers or birds that only appear in spring. Everything they found was brought to the village as proof that spring had really come. The whole search process became the basis of the game of hide and seek.

How to play classic hide and seek?

The rules of hide and seek are very simple. First, the players get together, choose who will be water. Then everyone runs away, except for the driver himself, and hides in various places. The driver, meanwhile, must count to a certain number (from 10 or more), closing his eyes and pressing his face against something (tree, wall, etc.), and then look for all who have hidden. The one the driver finds first must be water in the next game. They play hide and seek only in the allotted territory, which the players themselves establish. Today, there are many varieties of hide and seek. For example: "Moscow hide and seek", "hide and seek", etc.

How to play Moscow hide and seek correctly?

Moscow hide and seek is the most famous. The rules of the Moscow hide and seek game are more complicated than the usual ones. Here you need not only a certain area for the game, but also a stone (brick), a board and a certain number of sticks equal to the number of players (let's say we have 12 of them). First, a stone is placed, a board is placed on it, and 12 sticks are placed on the edge of the board. Shouting: "Drive", some player jumps onto the board, the driver immediately begins to collect the scattered sticks and put them back on the board. During this time, the players run up and hide. After collecting all the sticks and putting them on the board, the water starts looking for the hidden players. The players must again and imperceptibly "break" the sticks, then the game will start over.

It should be noted that children's hide-and-seek develops many mental and physical qualities. Moreover, in it, children can consider themselves “discoverers” and “trackers”. From an early age, they show a "craving for discoveries", so the children really like this game. Hide and seek plays a big role in raising a child. He develops purposefulness, resourcefulness, develops logic and the ability to concentrate attention on something.

HIDDEN, hide and seek, units no (colloquial).

Did you enjoy playing hide and seek? We invite you to run with!

Buckles (another name: "Tuki-ta") (the described version of the rules in some places is called Moscow hide and seek) is a child's play.

Description of the game

At the beginning of the game, everyone gets together, then the driver, facing the wall, counts loudly to 100 (or another number). Sometimes tens of up to 100 or 200. Others hide at this time. Having counted to the required number, the driver goes to look for those who have hidden. Sometimes before that it is supposed to say “one-two-three-four-five, I go [all of you] to look for”, “it's time, it's not time, I'm going out of the yard” or “who didn't hide, I'm not to blame”. Seeing the hiding one, he must be the first to run to the place from which he began the search, and touch the wall with his hand, pronouncing the agreed words that differ in different regions ("check", "magic wand", "pali-vyry", "tra-ta- ta "," kuli-kuly "," tuki-ruki "," tuki-tuki for yourself "," ban-drum for yourself "," knock-knock for yourself "," knock-ta "," fired-knocked " , "I knocked-fell," "Tuki-baki", "Tully-I", "I knock"). Everyone who hides tries to be the first to do the same. The next driver is the one who hid, who was salted (“checked”) first, and if no one was salted - the same as last time. You cannot hide behind the back or next to the driver. Sometimes, as an option, the last player can help out all "caught" and the driver drives again. To give dynamism to the game according to the conditions, the last "caught" becomes the driver.

Free players can help those not found yet by shouting out hints like:

  • "Ax-ax, sit like a thief and do not look out into the yard" - means that the moment for appearance is very unfavorable;
  • "Saw-saw, fly like an arrow" - the opposite meaning: there is an opportunity to overtake the driver, which means it's time to jump out of cover.

In the west, a variant of the game called "sardines" is also widespread. In this version, one is hiding, and all the others are looking for him. Whoever finds him first hides with him. Then the next one who finds them joins them, then all the others take turns. The game ends when the last player joins the rest. He is declared the loser and usually hides next. Sardines are often played in the dark.

Also in the west, a version of the game of hide and seek is known using the name and surname of the famous Venetian traveler Marco Polo. In this game, the hunter commits to answer "Polo" when the seeker says "Marco". Often used in TV shows.

Excerpt from Hide and Seek

“How soon? How soon? Oh, these unbearable streets, shops, rolls, lanterns, cabbies! " thought Rostov when they had already written down their vacations at the outpost and entered Moscow.
- Denisov, we have arrived! Sleeping! He said, leaning forward with his whole body, as if by this position he hoped to speed up the movement of the sleigh. Denisov did not respond.
- Here he is at the corner of the crossroads where Zakhar the cabby stands; here he and Zakhar, and still the same horse. Here is the shop where they bought gingerbread. How soon? Well!
- Which house then? - asked the driver.
- Yes, at the end, to the big one, as you can't see! This is our home, - said Rostov, - this is our home! Denisov! Denisov! We’ll come now.
Denisov raised his head, cleared his throat and said nothing.
- Dmitry, - Rostov turned to the footman at the irradiation. - Isn't it our fire?
- So exactly with and at papa's office lights up.
- You haven't gone to bed yet? AND? what do you think? Look, don't forget, get me a new Hungarian coat at once, 'added Rostov, feeling his new mustache. - Come on, - he shouted to the driver. - Yes, wake up, Vasya, - he turned to Denisov, who again bowed his head. - Come on, let's go, three rubles for vodka, let's go! - shouted Rostov, when the sledges were already three houses from the entrance. It seemed to him that the horses were not moving. Finally the sleigh took to the right to the entrance; overhead Rostov saw the familiar cornice with broken plaster, a porch, a sidewalk post. He jumped out of the sleigh on the move and ran into the passage. The house also stood motionless, unhappy, as if it didn’t care who had come to it. There was no one in the hallway. "Oh my God! is everything all right? " thought Rostov, stopping for a minute with a sinking heart and immediately starting to run further along the passage and the familiar, curving steps. All the same door handle of the lock, for the uncleanness of which the countess was angry, also weakly opened. There was a greasy candle burning in the front hall.
Old man Mikhaila slept on a chest. Prokofy, a visiting footman, the one who was so strong that he lifted the carriage by the back, sat and knitted bast shoes from the edge. He glanced at the opened door, and his indifferent, sleepy expression suddenly transformed into an ecstatic frightened.
- Fathers, lights! The count is young! He cried, recognizing the young master. - What is it? My dear! - And Prokofy, shaking with excitement, rushed to the door to the drawing-room, probably to announce, but apparently changed his mind again, went back and leaned on the shoulder of the young master.
- Are you healthy? Asked Rostov, pulling his hand away from him.
- Thank God! All glory to God! just ate now! Let me see you, your Excellency!
- All right?
- Thank God, thank God!

Many probably know what supernatural horrors await a person in this world. However, not only the formidable infernal evil is capable of thrilling any of us. Sometimes something mystical and frightening happens right in the middle of everyday life, in everyday life, where you least expect it. And reading about such cases is no less interesting and scary. For example, this eerie story focuses on a "normal" children's game of hide and seek that began many years ago and may not have ended until now. It was told to users of the World Wide Web by a certain Russian. Let's call him Paul. (website)

Pavel says that in early childhood one of his favorite pastimes was hide and seek with his father. When it was getting dark, the man took his son from the kindergarten and upon returning home played with him for a while until the boy's mother also came home from work. This family lived in a two-room apartment in a Khrushchev-built house. Despite such a limited space, the father sometimes hid very ingeniously, and the child could not find him without a prompt. In such cases, the man began to quietly cough to give his son a tip. Our hero walked cautiously towards the sound, and every time his father jumped out of his hiding place with a cry, frightening the little one for a second or two. The boy laughed with the delight of instant fear, invariably asking his parent to repeat the game.

The mystical disappearance of a Russian

On one of these evenings, twilight had just begun to deepen, and the light had not yet been lit. The man told his son that this time he would hide as well as he had never hid before, and therefore it would be very difficult to find him. Pavel went out into the hallway, stood facing the front door, counted to ten and began to search. After a while, the boy realized that something was wrong. Father was still not there, although the little driver had already searched the whole apartment. The habitual coughing was also not heard: neither from the rooms, nor from the kitchen, nor from the bathroom, nor from the pantry. The child got scared and began to call his father, but he never appeared.

When his mother returned, a bellowing Paul told her what had happened. At first, she did not believe it and inspected the apartment herself, then for a long time she asked her son where his father had gone. Late in the evening, it became clear to the woman that her husband had disappeared. She naturally turned to the police. Law enforcement officers conducted an investigation, but did not find any traces of the abduction. As a result, the guards of the law concluded that the man had escaped from the family, and stopped looking for him. However, here is what is strange: Pavel's father did not take with him any clothes, money, or documents. He did not even take the keys, although when the boy's mother came home, the door was closed. The disappeared obviously could not jump out of the window of the fourth floor and calmly leave undressed. One got the impression that he simply disappeared into the apartment.

Is hide and seek with your father over yet?

This happened over fifteen years ago. Pavel inherited those very apartments in Khrushchev and now lives alone. He, his mother, all relatives and those around him long ago decided that the dishonest father of our hero left his family, very deftly imitating his mystical disappearance (apparently, he was seriously preparing to escape). It would seem that the story is over, isn't it? Recently, however, Pavel began to be inclined to believe that his father ... is still here, in the apartment. The fact is that when it starts to get dark and turn on the light too early, a quiet feigned cough is heard in her, very similar to what the boy heard here as a child. Pavel is afraid that one day his father, who has not aged for a minute, will suddenly jump out of the closet or from under the bed with a cry. Or something that in this case will pretend to be his father ...

Some of the regulars on the Runet reacted to this story with irony. Say, the dad of our hero has finally decided to show up when his son has already reached the age of majority, and now there is no need to pay alimony. However, most of the commentators were quite intrigued by this mysterious story, from which a chill runs down their spines. Someone says that the Russian's father knew how to move in and inadvertently used this ability while hiding with his son, until he got stuck in another dimension. Others believe that some otherworldly entity then dragged the man to himself and is now trying to get to his son. According to others, Paul is simply experiencing auditory hallucinations in the place that brought him so many unpleasant memories.

Finally, we will give one more, very interesting addition to this story by a certain Alexei:

My father and I also played hide and seek, in exactly the same way, at dusk, waiting for my mother from work, only this happened in a private house in the Vladimir region. My father also scared me, jumping out of his hiding place, and when I was hiding, I did not find it for a long time, starting in a creepy voice to tell all sorts of horror stories, why in the end I myself crawled out from under the bed or from the wardrobe, because it was already creepy to sit there ... And then one day I hid in the wardrobe between my clothes and began to wait impatiently for my father to start scaring me (it was both scary and somehow sweet at the same time), but for some reason he walked quietly this time and did not even say anything , and then went into another room altogether and fell silent. And I quietly fell asleep in that linen closet. My mother woke me up, scolding me for hiding and scaring her to death: she had already searched the whole house, she already wanted to run to the neighbors. And when I told her about hide and seek with my father, she looked at me somehow strangely for a long time, and then sighed heavily: "What father, he died when you were still wrapped in diapers."

So I never saw my father again, except for his photographs and a grave at the local churchyard. It looks like the wardrobe was with a surprise. Then a thousand times (if not more) I deliberately hid in it in the hope that my father would return (or rather, that I would return to the world where he is alive), but I never managed to change anything ...

He loudly calls all those found by name, they leave their shelters, go to the "house" and wait until the last one is found.
Sometimes it happens that he has found everyone, but one cannot be found in any way. You will inspect all the places, and he fell through the ground! But in the end, everyone is. Then the game starts again, but the one who was found first drives.
And if someone breaks the agreement and hides where it is impossible, then he is turned off from the game.
While the driver is looking, you cannot run from one place to another, so that he does not have to look at the same place several times. Otherwise, the game may never end.
But usually you don't have to drive in hide and seek for a long time, unless someone has hidden very cunningly.
I'll tell you how I once hid. Fifty years have passed since then, and I still remember!
It was in the village. We played near our house. And so it occurred to me to hide in plain sight for laughter. You've probably seen how the corners were made at the village hut - the logs of the two walls protrude crosswise from each other and form a small outer corner. So, I scrambled over the protruding ends of the logs to the very roof, where the swallow's nest stuck. I clung to my hands and stand in this corner. From above, I could see everything very well. And most importantly, the driver was standing almost nearby, around the corner. From here he went to look. Many times he ran under me, but did not know to raise his head. He found everyone, but he can't find me. Found guys and girls see me, show each other, laugh, but they don't tell him.
Well, then he did find me, probably because he noticed where the guys were looking.
And the village children up to ten years old played easier hide and seek. And the rules were easier. The main difference here is that the driver, as soon as he found the first one, called his name right away, and then shouted: "To the porridge, guys!" All came out of their hiding places, and the found one had to drive. He went to the "house", again asked: "Is it time?" - and everyone ran to hide again.
As you can see, there is no need to search here for a long time, therefore the number of players is not limited. But it is imperative to negotiate where you can hide and where you can't.
Well, for those who were not found, it is not at all necessary to run "for porridge" every time. They may not leave their seats if they are happy with them. Or they can hide. Usually those who think that the new driver could see where they hid are usually hide.
And a final note on hide and seek. If someone is called home, then he can leave the game only during the change of the driving player, so as not to disturb the game for everyone else. At the same time, you can take into the game others who want to play hide and seek with you. But the newly adopted must first drive, as they say - "to the new one."

Well, at the time when Pushkin lived, this game was called "kuluchki", and not only children, but also young men and girls played it. Even then, she was considered "belonging to the domestic amusements of our ancestors" and was described as follows:
“One of the players sits down in a corner - chuckle; others cover his face, eyes, everything himself - with handkerchiefs, various dresses, and he quickly whines:

Kulu, kulu - baba!
Don't gouge out your eyes
The eye on the police
The other is in salt lick.
Is it time or what?

At this time, all other players hide themselves in all possible, inconspicuous places. When will they hear: "Is it time, or what?" - they only answer: "No!" Smoking begins again, again the question: "Is it time, or what?", Again the answer: "No!" This continues up to three times, and sometimes more, until all players have time to hide. Not receiving an answer to his "Is it time, or what?", He goes in search. The first one found by him must replace him. It often happens that the players make Kulyuchka look for one and all ”.
Here Kulyuchka does not just say his sentence, he scares: look, they say, one eye is on my shelf, and the other in a salt shaker - I see everything! But there is also another meaning, useful for those hiding - when he mutters like that, he himself hears less where they are hiding.
As you can see - how many years have passed! - and the rules of the game have hardly changed. And you too, if you like, can play at home according to the old custom ...
