The Witcher 2 Walkthrough Chapter 3 The Roche Path. Complete walkthrough of the third chapter

  • 25.10.2020

Immediately, I note that the passage of the third chapter is quite specific, since much here will not be clear, for example, where did the dragon come from? etc. But I did not dare to write in another way, since some part of the ending will be revealed and the player will get much less pleasure from the passage.

In the name of Temeria!

And so we follow to Lok Muinn. Through mountains and bumps we make our way to the city.
At the entrance to the city, we observe the Knights of the Order of the Burning Rose. Vernon will be able to persuade the soldiers to let us inside.

An interesting moment! If you completed the first part of the game The Witcher and were on the side of the Order of the Burning Rose, and the second part started by loading a save from the first, you will be allowed into the city without further ado.

In the city we will meet Siegfried, he fortunately does not believe that Geralt was involved in the murder of the king. Well, thank God. After that, we have time to complete the side quests. Roche allows us to walk around the city, while he goes to the square and waits for us until we are ready.

When we walk up, we run to Roche. He will offer to go to talk to King Radovid.
The conversation succeeds, we tell the king about our difficult situation, and he about his. As a result, the conversation ends with the fact that it would be nice for us to save Ariana's sister La Valetta. The king wants to put her on the throne and not get involved with the division of the country. The trouble is that sister Ariana, and her name is Anais, is held captive by the sorcerer Detmold, the very one with whom we were lucky enough to meet earlier.
We also learn that Triss is also here in this city. And apparently in captivity.

After leaving the king, we have two tasks at once, to save Anais or save Triss.
Vernon insists on saving Anais, but at the same time says that the choice is ours.

Choice:
1) Let's go save Triss("Where is Triss?")
2) Let's go save Anais(Flesh of flesh).

Flesh of flesh

Choosing option (2) in the quest "In the Name of Temeria!", We save Anais, at the request of King Radovid.
We will make our way into the enemy's territory through the sewers, there Roche will already be waiting for us.
We are heading to the Kaedwen camp. On the way, you will have to split up in order to defeat the guards. And so we left the sewers and got out into the white light. Vernon will open the gate for us and there we will find a whole bunch of soldiers. The fight will not be easy. Having dealt with some part of the enemies, Detmold's people attack us. Having overcome all this crowd, we go to the place where Anais is kept. The dungeon is protected by the magic of Detmold, so we need to find the sorcerer himself. We are looking for and at one point we "stumble" on a scene where Detmold dies at the hands of Roche. With the death of the sorcerer, the magic barrier disappears. Therefore, we run after Anais.

Having reached the dungeon where the girl is kept, we are faced with a choice:
1) We give Anais, Radovid, as agreed.
2) We return Anais. Temerts. Now the choice is yours.

You have now unlocked the quest " Meeting of the sorcerers". The passage of this quest can be found in the section.

Main quests

In the name of Temeria!

Stage 1: open the gate at Lok Muinne

You will begin the third chapter on a mountain trail leading to Lok Muinne ... Come down, eliminating along the way harpies ... Near the entrance to the city you will notice Knights of the Burning Rose (M31, 1).

Stage 2: go to an audience with King Radovid

Attention! Playing on Roche's side, you can approach the knights Order regardless of the choice you made in the first "Witcher" (for example, joined to skoya "taels). Roche will keep you safe. The same will happen if you have not imported the save, that is, you can calmly talk with Radovid. Move behind Rocher in town. If you decide to explore the surroundings, he will be waiting for you at the columns ( M31, 30).

When you're ready, let me know Rocher , and move to a meeting with Radovid ... If Henselt was killed in the second chapter, you will be asked about those events - it does not matter whether you take responsibility for yourself or blame your companion. You can also use convictionto avoid answering. To continue the conversation, exit Radovid's camp. You will have to make a very important choice:

You decide to save Anais

Reward : 500 XP

You will unlock the quest " flesh of flesh "

You decide to save Triss.

Reward : 500 XP

You will unlock the quest " Where is Triss?

Flesh of flesh

Stage 1: Infiltrate the Kaedwen Camp

The entrance to the sewer through which you enter the Kaedwen camp is located on the main square ( M31, 18). Rocher waiting for you inside - go to the guards and charm them Axiem.

Stage 2: Defeat Detmold's Soldiers and Mercenaries

A rather difficult battle awaits you with detmold's people ... We need to remove the soldiers on the ground, and Roche will take care of those on the walls. Difficulties can arise near the tower when Detmold's apprentice joins the battle. You need to wait until he teleports, thereby removing his shield, and attack. Roche will help you, so you can focus on the sorcerer.

Stage 3: Get Rid of Detmold and Free Anais La Valette

Enter the tower ( M31, 33) and move to the room on the left - there will be a prisoner on the right Anais ... A cut-scene will begin in which Roche will deal with Detmold in a very cruel way. With the death of the sorcerer, the barrier will disappear, and you can free the girl.

Attention! Remember to search the body Detmold and open it safe - lies inside forgotten sword of Vranov .

Now the fate of Anais is to be decided:

Give it to Radovid.
Transfer it to the Temerians.

If you decide to give Anais Natalisa, at the exit from the tower you are attacked knights of the Order of the Burning Rose ... The quest will end as soon as you get to the sewers ( M31, 32). If you decide to give Anais Radovid , the knights will take her. You will part with Roche in the sewers. You can go to the meeting Lodges.

Reward : 2500 XP

You will unlock the quest " Meeting of the sorcerers The description of this quest can be found below, in the general quests section.

Attention! This is your last chance to complete the side quests. Starting the task " meeting of sorcerers ", they will all fail.

Side quests

Lilies and snakes

We get the quest from Brigida (1)

Brigid you will meet after talking with Radovid , during the quest " in the name of Temeria! ". You will learn that, most likely, a traitor responsible for death was wound up in the camp. Bussie and abduction Anais ... The woman will ask you to take her out of the city, and in return she will tell everything she knows. If you decide to set off immediately, you will find yourself at the entrance to the city (2) ... The path to the river passes through the camp of the Order of the Burning Rose (3) .

To continue the task, complete the quest " main witness ".

Stage 2: Talk to Kimbolt about Foltest's children

Go back to camp, find Kimbolt (4) and talk to him about the order you received. You can ask him about other things as well, but concentrate on writing. Regardless of whether you show him or not, he will promise you money if you get to the bottom of the truth, and will offer to verify the authenticity of the letter.

Stage 3: check the authenticity of the letter in the clerk's cell or blame Kimbolt in front of Natalis

You have two options:

Blame Kimbolt right away. Description in stage 3, option A.
Go to the clerk and check the authenticity of the letter. Description in stage 3, option B.

Attention! By accusing Kimbolt, you will never know the whole truth.

Stage 3 Option A: Blame Kimbolt

Natalis is nearby (5) ... It is enough to present him with evidence, and you will see the scene of the arrest of the baron. The quest is over.

Reward: 250 XP

Stage 3, Option B: Verify the authenticity of the letter

The scribe's house is to the left of the entrance to the baron's chambers. When you get there (6), you will find yourself completely drunk scribe lying near the house and muttering something. His words will come in handy (at least most of them), so listen carefully:

Find out, young alchemist, not all that the night pot will give is gold. Work! But all the same, when a gray-haired cormorant in a pot leaves us its gift, dilute this wonderful gift with water. With pleasure!

A strong ingredient is one that gives off urine!

Light it up, mascara, nasri and wash it off ...

Kry-ylya bakla-a-new!

For more information, take a few notes from the workshop: invisible ink , clerk's draft and note for clerk ... Study everything carefully and start preparing the mixture. You will find the correct sequence below:

1. Light it up - pour burnt lime into the flask
2. Carcasses - pour water into the flask
3. Nasri - pour pelican droppings into the flask
4. Rinse - warm up the flask, remove the gas and fill it with water.

This mixture will check kimbolt's letter ... The paper will turn ginger, which means it is fake.

Stage 4: Talk to Kimbolt about the fake letter

Come back to Kimbolt (4) and tell him that the letter is a fake. In addition to a reward of a couple of dozen orens, the baron will ask you for a favor. If you agree, the quest will begin " Count Maravel ". In case of refusal, you will never know the whole truth.

Stage 5: find out the fate of Bussey a Anais and talk to Natalis

To complete this quest, you must collect evidence of Natalis's betrayal. To do this, you need to complete two quests:

Pacta sunt servanda - as soon as you leave the baron's chambers, a servant will approach you Maravela and will tell you that his owner wants to see you.
Count Maravel - you need to complete one more task for Kimbolt .

Finding out or not knowing the truth, go to Natalis (5). Below you will find all the options for completing this quest:

Blame Kimbolt:

You have completed the quest " main witness "and went to Natalis without checking the authenticity of the letter.
You have completed the quest " Pacta sunt servanda ", in which they helped the blackmailers and obtained evidence of the baron's guilt.

Reward: 500 XP

We get the reward from Maravel.

We blame Maravel:

You have completed the quest Count Maravel , in which they received a letter with an order as evidence of guilt.
You have completed the quest " Pacta sunt servanda "and Count Maravel , in which they received testimony against the baron and a letter from Maravel.

Reward: 500 XP

We get the reward from Kimbolt.

We blame Kimbolt and Maravel:

Reward: 750 XP

Chief witness

We receive the quest automatically, during the quest "lilies and snakes"

Stage 1: escort Brigida to the river

Follow the woman through camp of the Order of the Burning Rose until you get to the forest. You learn that Brigida has an appointment with a smuggler by the river. Dangers will lie in wait in the forest, so keep your sword ready. You also need to monitor the health of your companion, as she may die. After walking a couple of dozen steps, you will stumble upon a group bandits (1) ... Watch out for the two archers on the hill to the right.

If you decide to explore the area on the right (2), you will stumble upon several endriages , and at the same time you will find tir Na Lia Armor Blueprint (3) ... When you reach the intersection, choose one of two roads:

Through the cave (4). Description in paths through the cave.
Further through the forest. Description in paths through the forest.

Attention! It is worth choosing the path through the cave, because besides the monsters, you will find good swords there.

Path through the cave

Upon entering the cave, you will be almost immediately attacked by a group nakers (5) ... A little further (6) another group is waiting for you nakers ... Turning at the intersection towards the exit (8) , again you will have to clear the way from harmful creatures (7) ... If you turned left, exterminate the last group nakers and search the room thoroughly: you will find two good swords, Dancer (10) and Deitven (11) .

Getting out of the cave (12) you will meet again endriages (13) ... In the end, you have to fight with bandits (14) .

Path through the forest

If you decide to go through the forest, you will have to fight with a larger group bandits (14) ... Remember to protect Brigida.

Stage 2: Defeat the Attackers

Reaching the river (15) you find dead smuggler ... A cut-scene will begin, after which you will be attacked. First, try to eliminate sorcerer which causes the most problems. As always, remember to protect Brigids ... After the fight, ask her about everything, focusing on what happened to the train, and on Maravel and Kimbolt. The brigida will give you an order to change the route of the convoy.

You can return to Lok Muinne or stay in the forest. If you have already searched everything, you have nothing more to do there.

Reward: 250 XP

Pacta sunt servanda

We get the quest automatically, leaving the chambers of Kimbolt, during the quest "lilies and snakes"

Stage 1: Talk to Count Maravel

To visit the Count, head towards the exit, and after climbing the stairs, turn left. The count doesn't trust Kimbolt - this person communicates with blackmailers which is very suspicious. Maravel will show you the exact location of the bandits.

Stage 2: Talk to the blackmailers before Kimbolt's stalker reaches them

Go to the amphitheater, where you will find the mentioned blackmailers (3) ... Unfortunately, during your conversation, Kimbolt's people will appear, and you will have to choose who to support:

We do not interfere.
We protect blackmailers.

Attention! By letting the blackmailers die, you will never know the whole truth, and the quest will end in failure.

Stage 3: protect the blackmailers

In the second case, a fight begins. You can immediately deal with the leader of the bandits, since his partners are not very good, and you can easily deal with him. By protecting the blackmailers, you will learn the whole truth. Convince the leader of the mercenaries to testify before Natalis.

Reward: 250 XP

Count Maravel

We get the quest from Kimbolt, during the quest "lilies and snakes"

Stage 1: Meet Aldrich

Aldrich you can find in the center (1) ... When you ask about Lasha, he will ask you to follow him, but you won't have to go far (2) ... As soon as you speak to him again, a messenger with a letter will appear.

Stage 2: Collect the mail from the Maravel's envoy

Do not get too close to them, otherwise you will be noticed and a fight will start. (3) ... You can handle the first two without problems. But after passing through the gate, you will encounter a large group nilfgaardian soldiers (4) ... Beware of crossbowmen - it is better to attack them right away so that they do not have time to pull out the crossbows.

After removing the guards, fight the messenger (5) ... It's not particularly difficult to get rid of him, but certain tactics are needed. The sorcerer teleports as soon as you get close to him, and only attacks with fireballs, which are fairly easy to dodge. The messenger teleports to four locations, always in the same sequence. Your task is to place the Yrden Sign in one of these places and make it teleport there. When Jerome Lasch will fall into a trap, you will easily kill him.

Search his body - you will find count Maravel's correspondence ... The quest is over.

↓. Decisions and their consequences. ↓

All decisions are valid at the time of the release of the Second Witcher. Many solutions do not find a response in the Third part of the game, however, nothing will be written about this in the manual, so that spoilers for the Wild Hunt do not arise.

If, in your opinion, I was mistaken in some reasoning, then please write about it in the comments, and not just mindlessly put a minus.
And also, if you have any questions about the game, then ask them in the same comments and I will try to answer them.

Arian La Valette
Reach an agreement will survive after the fire and in the third chapter will turn to Radovid for help to find his sister Anais. The castle of La Valette will remain behind the shattered Temeria.
Kill La Valette Castle will be surrendered to Nilfgaard by mother Marie-Louise La Valette.

Should I give the sword to Iorveth?
Give sword there will be a pogrom in Flotzam. Triss, with the help of a mega-scope, will talk to Philippa Eilhart.
Don't give There will be a holiday in Flotzam. Iorvet captured. Triss will talk to Detmold.

Iorvet or Roche?
Iorvet The Valley of Pontar will not be taken over by Kaedwen. Temeria will become dependent and will be divided. Considering the CDPR comic " Matters of Conscience"(Remorse), then this option can be called the most canonical by the standards of the game.
Rocher The Valley of Pontar will be taken over by Kaedwen. Temeria's chance to become independent and undivided. Loredo is dead and Flotzam remains in the power of Temeria. Prince Stennis will be killed.
Quite an important point, which, as it turns out, is not known to everyone. Having chosen one of the sides, we will play the whole 2 chapter in completely different locations, so it is recommended to complete the game twice, or at least make a save before the choice itself.

If Iorveta was chosen
Kill Loredo or save the elves?
Kill Loredo Flotzam will remain in the power of Temeria. Iorvet talks about the indifference of people.
Save the elves Loredo surrenders the Flotsam to Kaedwen. Iorweth is happy for saving the elves.

Iorveth's Path
Prince Stennis
Allow lynching (Verdict - death) Death of the heir to King Demavend. Without a legitimate ruler, anarchy will begin in Aedirne.
Give to a fair trial (Sentence - life) Prince Stennis will be crowned ruler of Aedirn, who may be able to rebuild the country (but without the Valley of Pontar).

Roche's path
King Henselt
Let him kill Chaos and disorder will occur in Kaedwen. Before the invasion of Nilfgaard, the kingdoms of the North will lose their balance. The Blue Stripes will be avenged.
Convincing not to kill him The Pontar Valley will be annexed to Kaedwen, which balances Henselt and Radovid's positions in the North.

Iorveth's Path
Together with Philippe, disenchant Saskia or save Triss?
Save Saskia The beginning of the widespread hunt for sorceresses, magicians and witchers. The chapter will not be restored. The plans of the lodge have been disrupted. Saskia is disenchanted (Perhaps not completely, we will find out in the future) and will become the queen of the Pontar Valley. Triss will survive, but the relationship with her may be spoiled. Not.
Save Triss Nilfgaard camp will be destroyed, death of Renuald and Ambassador Shilard Fitz-Österlen. The chapter and council of sorcerers have been restored, which will create a powerful association of magicians of the North. Temeria will become divided, the fate of Anais and Roche is unknown. Iorvet is seriously injured.

If Triss was saved for Iorweth

Kill The plans of the lodge were completely violated, their main trump card was destroyed forever. The Valley of Pontar lacks a leader.
Spare The lodge is strengthened and retains control over Saskia (With a small chance to disenchant her, because Iorvet finds a dagger to perform the ritual). The Valley of Pontar retains a leader who still remains under the rule of the Lodge.

Roche's path
Save Triss or save Anais?
Save Triss Nilfgaard camp will be destroyed, death of Renuald and Ambassador Shilard Fitz-Österlen. The chapter and council of sorcerers have been restored, which will create a powerful association of magicians of the North. The plans of the Lodge have been disrupted. Temeria will become divided, Roche is outlawed. In the future, Anais may claim the throne.
Save Anais The beginning of the widespread hunt for sorceresses, magicians and witchers. The chapter will not be restored. Death of the sorcerer Detmold. Triss will be saved by Leto. Option 1 or Option 2.
Option 1 - give Anais to Natalis (Freedom of Temeria) Temeria will exist independently of other states, but there are many dissenters in the country. Anais is preparing to be a wise and intelligent queen.
Option 2 - give Anais Radovid (Temeria's Dependency) Radovid occupies Temeria in whole or in part (Depends on Henselt's life), and claims that he keeps the country only as a protectorate until the lawful queen Anais grows up. But it is quite possible that Anais will never be queen. Also, if you imported the save from the first part of the game and cast a spell on Princess Adda, with whom Radovid married, then his heirs can automatically become the rulers of Temeria, but only when Anais dies.

Kill or spare the dragon (Saskia)?
Kill The plans of the lodge were completely violated, their main trump card was destroyed forever. Kaedwen need not fear Saskia's revenge for capturing the Valley of Pontar.
Spare The lodge is strengthened and retains control over Saskia (With a small chance to disenchant her, but it is unknown if Iorvet finds the dagger). Saskia can be used as a weapon against Kaedwen or in revenge for the Valley of Pontar.

General
Sheala de Tanserville
To rescue Sheala will tell us where Yennefer is. A strong sorceress will return to the Lodge.
Letting die The lodge will lose a strong sorceress. Yennefer's whereabouts would later be reported to Leto.

Summer
Kill Foltest will be avenged and Geralt will keep his oath to Roche. The Snake Witch School will remain destroyed.
Spare Geralt will not keep his oath to Roche. The Snake Witch School may be rebuilt, which may help in the study of the Wild Hunt. Geralt and Leto part as old friends. Leto was also announced in the third part of the game, where he will help Geralt. Better not kill, in 3 parts he will have a good role.

About endings

A small spoiler of the 3rd part of the game, which, for sure, many have already passed: everything that I wrote above does not affect the game at all, except for a couple of inserts in the dialogues and a quest and a half.
There are a lot of final states of the world for the main decisions in the game (Something about 40), that is, in all these endings, the kingdoms of the North have different locations. And their location is influenced by such elections:

  • The fate of Ariana la Valetta
  • Roche or Iorvet
  • Fate of Commandant Loredo (If Roche is chosen, he is automatically dead)
  • The Fate of Prince Stennis (If Roche is chosen, he is automatically dead)
  • Fate of King Henselt (If Jorweth is chosen, then automatically alive)
  • Save Triss / Anais / Saskia
  • Give Anais to Radovid or Natalis (Only with Roche)
As you can see, there are a lot of ending factors, despite the fact that these are only the main decisions in the game, when there are a huge number of other less significant decisions, plus the import of saves from the first part (As an example, Siegfried is alive or dead and our relationship with him).

This video is one of the ending options, here decisions were made such as: Arian is alive, the side of the conflict is Roche, Henselt is alive, Anais is given to Natalis, the dragon is alive.
It is best to watch it through a browser (in particular Google Chrome), because there are time codes and 60fps (And also a Dark level)

Your choice of plot from the second part will affect the world of the third part of the game. If you own PC versions of games, you can import your progress.

Now, I have two news for you. One is good, the other is bad. Let's start with the good one.

If you have not played the second part, if there are no saves left, or maybe you don’t remember what you chose, then the third part generously suggests choosing key moments at the beginning of the game. The bad news is - if you still haven't played the second part - your choice will be empty pressing of buttons without understanding the purpose of what is happening.

Spoilers will come from the next paragraph. Spoilers for the second part! Not the third. Run, save your lives. And if you have not played The Witcher 2, then run to play. Better yet, run to read books.

In this article not descriptions of how the choice of the second part will affect third... This article is just a reminder of what happened. So that you don't feel lost in the plot.

Remember, you ran into him in the prologue. The order of the missions then you chose yourself, but it can be found in the first three missions. He guards the castle along with his guards. He can be killed or left alive. If you kill him, then later in the game you can meet his mother. Leaving La Valetta alive, he himself can be found later in the game.

Choice 2. Who did you leave Flotzam for - on Vernon Roche or on Iorweth?

Vernon Roche? Yorvet? Who are all these people?

Vernon Roche is a devoted servant of Foltest (who is the king) and literally one of the few who believed that Geralt did not kill Foltest. Iorvet is an elf, a rebel, the commander of the Scoatoels (who are squirrels) and just a handsome man. Both heroes are on opposite sides of the barricades. Vernon is on the royal legal side, an elf, respectively, a champion of elven freedom based on genocide.

The choice is not mythical, the missions are different. By choosing Roche, you join the Blue Stripes and get a whole series of missions and new opportunities. The same goes for Iorweth. Elven missions and endless forests.

Choice 3. Branch of Iorweth. Are we saving Triss or spending a spell on Saskia?

Oh, this Triss Merigold. She is the object of permanent witchcraft interest. Plus, a powerful sorceress. Saskia is an excellent warrior who led the resistance in Aedirne. At the time of selection, Triss will be a prisoner in the Nilfgaard military camp. Saskia at this time, in the form of a dragon (yes, she knows how) is in magical captivity with Philip Eilhart. By the way, by choosing Roche, you will not know that Saskia is a dragon.

Are we saving Triss? In addition to having a fun time at camp, she points to Sheala de Tanserville, who is most likely behind Foltest's murder. Saskia remains in dragon form, which you will encounter later in the game.

Are we saving Saskia? Triss will not die as a prisoner in the camp. But this choice also has its consequences. Because Leto, the true killer of the king, will save her. But from this moment, a massive hunt for the witch begins. What is not good.

Choice 3. Roche Branch. Are we saving Triss or Anais La Valette?

Remember Marie Louise La Valette? Not? In general, she has two children. And they are not from her husband, but from King Foltest himself! And do you know what it says? What do you even know about The Witcher !? This suggests that Anais is the eldest daughter - the first direct heir to the throne. And she is Henselt's prisoner. The choice is difficult, to save either Triss or Anais from captivity. If you save Anais, you have one more choice - who to give her to - Redania or Temeria. Triss will not die when choosing Anais, Summer will save her again.

If we choose Triss, then the same happens as in the Iorveth branch. The only difference is that you didn't save Anais. But she won't die. Roche himself will save her. Only now they will not treat her in the most proper way.

Choice 4. Save Sheala de Tanserville or let her die from her megascope.

Megascope is a skype of the witcher's universe, with a built-in teleport function. The thing is quite expensive, not everyone has such a powerful device. To Sheala's great misfortune, one important detail was changed in her teleport, and this will lead to a fatal outcome. Sheala begs Geralt to save her. We save Sheala - she says where you can find Yennefer and disappears. We do not save - Sheala turns into magic dust.

Choice 5. Kill Summer or let him go.

Summer is also a witcher. He is the king's killer. In the story, we will stumble upon him or on his tracks. But in the final part, we will have a difficult choice. Whether to let the potential murderer roam the world or kill him. Consequences after consequences, but the game will end anyway.

I hope you are not too tired of a little excursion into the plot of the second part.

Curse of blood

It is no wonder that His Majesty toils from him! After all, he sent Sabrina Glevissig to the fire, for which she cursed him. The details of this gloomy incident need to be found out from Detmold, but one cannot do without visiting the place of her execution. Well, we leave the camp and go west along the coast, crossing a small stream. But besides the main goal, your friend Zyvik will ask you to find two lost soldiers in order to quickly return those to the ranks. Cutting your way through the ranks of the drowned people, you will find the soldiers just at the place of execution, which they made the subject of their cult. It is headed by someone Inspired, who lives in the gorges behind the camp. In the meantime, you will carefully examine the place of the scaffold three years ago. You will find familiar square coins, traces in ash, a letter and a nail, and this is what your new companions will be interested in. To give it or not is your will. And so that they no longer bother you, bring the idiots to the stream, from where they will independently get to the camp.

Head there too to talk about your find with the relic seller hanging around in the dining room. From him you will learn a lot of interesting things, in particular, the fact that Sabrina's fate was facilitated by Iagon, having pierced her with a spear on the scaffold. However, one cannot do without a visit to the Inspired One. Leave the camp again and move east to the gorges, fighting off the corpse eaters along the way. The main tactic of dealing with them is to bounce off them in time, before they explode. In the final part of your journey, you will witness the death of two soldiers from the clutches of rotten ones, and as soon as you take revenge on these creatures, then go to the dwelling of the Inspired. Having fought off the harpies there, talk to the head of the cult and try to get all possible information from him. The easiest way to do this is through bribery, but if you feel sorry for money, then there is another way. Pretend that we agree to join the cult and pass the test for this. All you need is to drink at the arrival of darkness (after 21:00) the potion received near the crypt between two lakes and view the vision. Well, and a little more to fight with evil spirits along the way. Having won his trust (or bought it), he will inform you about the relics needed to remove the curse from the king. You already have Seltkirk's armor, but the relic merchant should have the spear of Yagon. Something we did not see this spear from him - let's go figure it out! Pressing the merchant in the camp, he confesses that he sold the spear to a soldier who safely lost the artifact in the battle with the elves. Moreover, the spear is most likely in the hands of our old friend Iorveth, who is probably now in Vergen.

Begone, evil spirit!

Having told Detmold the information you received, you get from him the task of making your way through the dangerous fog directly to the city of Vergen, having received only a talisman and an ambassador's flag to overcome this suicidal task. It's good that our friend Zoltan will meet us on the way to the exit from the camp and, having learned where we are heading, gladly agree to go with us. And the road will not be easy. The amulet you received will really tell you the way through the fog, but you will have to fight endless ghosts exclusively on your own. The main thing is to cross the dangerous zone as soon as possible in order to find yourself at the village with the elves, where only thanks to the presence of our friend you will not be stuffed with arrows. Move on until you meet the commander of the dwarf guard. He will show you the location of one of the items needed to remove the spell - the symbol of death. It is located in the dungeons in the forest outside the city. But there is some bad news. No one is going to let you into the city, and then your fellow traveler decides to stay in Vergen for good. But in gratitude to Geralt, he promises to get the sword of General Vandergrift and give it to you in the dungeons under the city.

Now our path lies in the dungeons deep in the forest, in which you need to go down to the lowest tier. And if on the way to it you were attacked by ordinary ghosts, then reaching one of the halls on the lower floor, you will encounter the very spirit of the standard-bearer of the Brown Banner. To take possession of the banner by force, you will have to sweat a lot - your opponent is very strong. But the bloodless path is no easier. You can try to convince him that you yourself were in this unit, but no one will take your word for it. The spirit will ask questions, and only by answering them correctly will you earn its trust and the right to take the banner for yourself. For opponents of violence, here are the correct answers to the questions in order: wrong, Manno Koegoorn, was killed at Brenna, Seltkirk and Vandergrift, we were taken prisoner by Bigerhorn. But even if you did everything right and the spirit allowed us to take the banner, there is a risk that we will have to face it later. Therefore, if you are confident in your abilities, then it is safer to choose a forceful solution to the problem.

Now we are going to meet with Zoltan. To begin with, return to the burnt village, and from there, at the next two forks (at the gorges and at the gates), turn left. Thus, you will get to the catacombs under the city, which is not recommended to meddle in without sufficient supplies of potion for orientation in the dark. We'll have to get lost in them pretty much, having met on the way not only ordinary corpse-eaters, but also their hefty leader. Fortunately, your friends are waiting for you very close behind the nearest door to hand over a much needed sword. And Zoltan will bring good news - Iorveth safely lost the spear to the dice to Skalen Burdon from the suburb, so you just have to return there and play the relic for yourself. It is unlikely that you can win immediately, so be persistent. After winning the spear, return through the fog back to the camp. Flicking off the ghosts, you will break out of the darkness, where Roche is already waiting for you to report the events that have occurred during your absence. His detachment was attacked by the Nilfgaardians, who were meeting Philip Eilhart's servant. We are in a hurry to find out the details in the camp, but there we will fail. The Nilfgaardians have already set sail, so we go to the king and inform him of the completion of our successful searches.

While the king is heading to the place of Sabrina's execution, you need to take a special powder for drawing runes from Detmold. Their images can be seen in the book received from him. Arriving at the place where the king is already waiting for you, proceed to the drawing of the runes. More precisely, you will only direct the actions of the monarch, prompting him the correct way to reproduce the image. You need to draw from the witch's circle to petrified bread and from a burnt tree to the corpse of a bird, yogurt, and close the figure again at the witch's circle. Now light the powder and prepare for battle. You need to protect the king from the pressing spirits until he impales the spirit of Sabrina with the spear he received. From this moment on, the curse will be lifted, and in gratitude you will receive a medallion and an invitation to the royal feast.

Assassins of Kings

These are the times! The king himself invited us to the feast, but the guards would not let us in anyway because the monarch received a foreign ambassador. Then we meditate until the evening (until 22 o'clock) and again go to the reception to the king. His happiness that he let us in! The story of the events in the castle of La Valette will be interrupted by two assassins who have killed the ambassador. You also need to fight with both of them to protect the king from certain death. Over time, Sheala will get into the fight, and you will win a relative victory - the king is alive, but one of the assassins managed to escape, and you won't learn anything from the second. Although Detmold offers a way out of this situation. If you resort to necromancy, then you can perform a rite, thanks to which you can see events through the eyes of a murderer for a certain period before his death. Find Detmold in the hospital and inquire about the ingredients required for the rite. You will need the "Duck" potion, the recipe for which can be bought from the merchant near the hospital. We return with him to Detmold and prepare for a kind of reincarnation. Looking at the world through the eyes of the dead assassin Egan, you and his companion hurry forward along the gorge, fighting with the harpies there. Carefully bypassing the traps after the battle, your deadly tandem will reach the meeting place with Leto, from which he learns that Sheala is also involved in a conspiracy and should be gotten rid of.

The second part of the vision starts at the royal camp and requires the killer to sneak up to the royal tent, avoiding the watchful eyes of the guards. If you manage to pass this part of the path unnoticed, then you will witness how the killers talk to each other in the dungeon under the camp, where they will discuss the congress of sorcerers in Lok Muinne. Finally, the last dash is to be done right at the tent itself, having fought near it with well-armed guards. So, a lot of information has been received! We tell them to the magician and go to the shelter of the killers, which we saw under the influence of the drug. There you will find the wounded escaped killer and pull out all the information you are interested in. Returning back to Detmold, you will receive the king's medallion from him and go to remove the fog from the battlefield.

Eternal battle

Fortunately, to complete this mission, you have on hand all the artifacts obtained in previous tasks: the banner of the Brown Banner and the sword of Vandergrift, the armor of Seltkirk and the royal medallion of Henselt. With the final instructions from Detmold, it's time to leave the camp and head into the dangerous fog. There, in Geralt, the spirits of the dead warriors will take turns to infuse, so you will have to complete several simple tasks on their behalf. First, in the form of an Aedirn warrior, you will have to cross the line of enemy fortifications and, having fought with the spirits of the soldiers, capture the Kaedwenian banner. And immediately after success, the soul of a Kaedwen soldier, hurrying through the battlefields to report to his commander about the loss of the banner, already infiltrates Geralt. You will have to move in short dashes between archers' volleys, so as not to fall under their arrows. Having admired the battle of the Kaedwen general with Sabrina, whom you know in absentia, you are transported into the image of the Aedirn commander fighting the enemy soldiers. Soon you will reach their general, the battle with whom will take place on behalf of the true Geralt, giving you the opportunity to use all his abilities in it. Just in time, for this fight promises to be very difficult. It is better to dodge the fiery volleys and deadly whirlwinds used by him against you, trying to roll up to the enemy from the unprotected side and hit him with a silver sword. Finally, after the victory, the last reincarnation of a priest awaits you, leading your warriors out of the dangerous zone, where at the edge of the darkness this leapfrog of invasions will end as soon as we step out into the light of day.

Conspiracy theory

Remember how in the secret room of Madame Karol's brothel we made a stir among the ranks of the conspirators? So, it's time to deal with the rest. We learn their location from Buttercup, who woke us up, and pointed to a house on a hill. Therefore, we run there, but we do not meet there conspirators at all, but our comrade Roche, and now we need to gather all his people together. To begin with, we run together to the camp of his detachment, fighting along the way with the Kaedwen warriors. But upon arriving at the place, we find no one except a lonely prostitute, who informed us that the king invited all of Roche's people to the dining room of his camp for a feast. We return there, overcoming fierce enemy attacks, and with horror we see that all Roche's companions are hanged on the gallows, with the exception of one Bianca, who will tell you about Henselt's betrayal. He is now just at the walls of Vergen, where we are heading to show him Kuzkin's mother, and at the same time to find Sheala, about whom we know that she worked in conjunction with the killer of kings.

The storming of Vergen

You can get to the city along the gorge, seen through the eyes of one of the failed assassins of King Henselt in the task of the same name in this chapter. Harpies from there have not disappeared anywhere, but after them you will meet a lone troll. You shouldn't kill her (there is such an opportunity), because then you will learn from her that her husband recently met someone on his way to Lok Muinne. Having said goodbye to her, keep your way to the quarries, again fighting off the harpies and meeting the husband of our recent friend ahead in the gorge. Help him fight off the soldiers and calmly move on (but if you killed his wife, you will have to fight with him). Already near the entrance to the caves, you will fight with another portion of soldiers and dive into the dungeons after the only surviving warrior. Moving deeper into the caves and cracking down on his comrades, you will get to Detmold and the commander of the local soldiers Pangratt. It is necessary to cope with the latter as soon as possible, because the magician, although he will distract you with his spells, will still leave your sword, hiding in the portal. After defeating Pangratt, you will only have to run out of the caves, where Zoltan, who had emigrated to Vergen earlier, will already be waiting for you.

From him we learn that the Sheala you are looking for is hiding in the house of her craft friend Philippa. You can immediately run there, but before that there is a chance to rescue an old acquaintance Iorvet from trouble (after all, we owe him to him), surrounded by enemy soldiers in the city. Climb up to the side of the suspension bridge, which treacherously breaks off at the last moment, leaving you without Roche's support. From here it is worth turning right, making your way through the ranks of the Kaedweni soldiers to the fortification of Iorvet. Having provided support to the elf, it's time to go to Philippa's house in search of Sheala (this can be done immediately). You can cope with ordinary opponents on the way to it without problems, but you will have to tinker with the monster summoned by the sorceress. It is all the more offensive that we will never be able to talk to her heart to heart. She will hide in the portal right in front of your nose, and will be replaced by King Henselt and his retinue. Having dealt with his knights and taking on him himself, you will be interrupted by the run-in Roche, and the further fate of the cunning monarch depends on the decision of Geralt. If you persuade Roche to spare him, or let him avenge his hanged comrades, it is your will. Having made a difficult moral choice, it is time to enter the home stretch of history leading to Lok Muinne.

Chapter 3
In the name of Temeria!

The road to the city will be on sugar - the harpies never cease to get bored here! And then at the gate in Lok Muinne, the knights of the Order of the Burning Rose will not want to let the Witcher into the city. Fortunately, Roche's diplomatic skills will be enough to let you go on a date with the head of the order Siegfried. After talking with him, you will temporarily part with your friend, and go on an excursion to the city alone. However, in its central square, you will reunite your duet again, heading from there to a reception to King Radovid. From him you learn that the only legitimate heiress of Temeria, Princess Anais, was kidnapped by Detmold. And if it does not exist, then this kingdom will simply be divided among themselves by other monarchs, which is unlikely to be done without massive bloodshed. But he will also say that Geralt's beloved Triss is now in this city held captive by the Nilfgaardians. As a result, we are faced with another serious choice. Will go to rescue the daughter of the murdered from captivity, partly through our oversight of King Foltest, or to take care of personal matters, going in search of Triss. The choice is not easy, but running a little ahead, we can tell you that the princess will not remain in trouble anyway, so you can go to save Triss with a clear conscience.

Where is Triss?

Then our path lies straight to the Nilfgaard camp. On the way, Geralt will be lucky and he will meet Ambassador Shilard in the company of just a couple of soldiers. Having easily finished with them, you can continue your further journey to the camp with the hostage, hoping that he will be useful to you in the process of negotiations with the Nilfgaardians. But upon arrival at the camp, our calculation will suffer a complete failure, for Shilarda will be killed without a twinge of conscience by the commander of the guard, and you will have to fight with him and his subordinates. Getting out of here is not so easy. The gates are locked, so you will have to look for alternative routes leading to the square. There, the battle will flare up for life and death, especially since Matsen himself will soon join ordinary opponents, having talked with us about the purpose of our arrival at the Nilfgaardian camp. But stop wagging your tongue - it's time to fight! Moreover, from the corpse of Matsen you will pick up the key to the cell where Triss is languishing. Go down to the dungeon and free the girl who was waiting for you, who told Geralt many interesting facts. Well, now break through to the exit from here to meet again at the meeting of sorcerers.

Meeting of the sorcerers

Having met with Triss at the amphitheater, you will witness the negotiations of the kings and other interested parties about the future fate of Temeria. At this meeting, King Radovid will demonstrate to those present the rescued princess Anais and will act as the guarantor of her becoming the throne of Timeria when she grows up. Then the sorcerers begin to discuss technical issues related to the creation of a new council. And at this moment Triss will ask for the floor and expose Sheala in complicity with the killer of kings. They will try to take the traitor into custody, but she does not intend to surrender without a fight, so she will call on the dragon for help.

Dragon apparition

Saskia in the guise of a dragon transported Sheala to a tower nearby. So we have only one task - to get to it in any way! We run to the tower, trying not to get roasted in the dragon flame along the way, and climb to the very top. There Sheala will tell us her vision of the motives of the killer of kings Leto and will provide us with the opportunity to personally deal with the dragon. We are approaching the dragon at the moment when he pours fire on us, and in order not to turn into a fragrant roast, we use the Quen sign. As soon as the battle comes to its middle, the overlaps under you will break through, and you will have to transfer the battle arena to the roof, climbing onto it along the ledges of the walls. There the dragon will attack you, crawling out from all sides from under the platform and still pouring fire on Geralt. Show all your dexterity so as not to fall under the attacks of the dragon, and at the very end of the battle get ready to perform the next QTE-scene. In the event of a successful outcome, the Witcher will land the dragon straight on a tree broken in the forest and defeat the enemy.

Assassins of Kings

Returning to the city border, Triss will meet you and inform us about Leto's presence in the Temer camp. Embark on this fateful meeting, fighting off soldiers' attacks along the way. Surprisingly, but the final fight is quite possible to avoid, if imbued with the arguments of Leto. Well, if they do not suit you, you are welcome to take part in the final battle, which will end with a spectacularly staged scene of your victory.

Are you sad that the game has ended? No problem! Embark on a new adventure in a different way and your hike will be very different from the previous one.
