How can you be sure that you will win the battle? Know in advance which troops are for what! In Last Empire - War Z, the winner is the one who knows which troops should be opposed to the opponent - and of course the one who has more such troops. Let's get to know the troops of the game closer!

What are the troops in Last Empire - War Z?

There are three standard types of troops in the game: warriors, shooters and vehicles (besides this, there is an additional type of troops - infected, but in this guide we will primarily talk about standard human units). Each type of troops is represented by ten units and is built in a specific building: for warriors there is a Military Camp, for shooters there is a Shooters' Camp, and for vehicles there is a Crew Workshop. By upgrading these buildings, you will get access to stronger units of the corresponding categories: the building has 30 development levels in total and you will receive a new unit every three levels (i.e. you will get new warriors at level 4, then at level 7, and so on). Each new unit is generally stronger than the previous one, but its characteristics may differ - sometimes a new unit may have a lower attack rate, but will be better protected, and vice versa. So, for example, the Samurai attacks with a force of 15 units, which is 7 less than the Macheter that comes before him (22 units), but at the same time the Samurai has better defense (35 units vs. 13) and more health (15 vs. 6). One way or another, all new troops get better carrying capacity over time and they give more strength, but at the same time consume more food.

How do troops work?

First of all, the troops exterminate the enemy - but you yourself, I think, guessed that. It is more important to say how exactly they do it.

The troops function on the principle of "Rock-Paper-Scissors" - some are better than others, but weak against others. In this case, the warriors do well with the cars, the shooters kill the warriors, and the cars crush the shooters. This, of course, is about standard units of the same level, not improved by the skills of the commander and fighting on equal terms. In addition to the standard “triangular” relationship, units also differ from each other in capabilities: shooters are better at destroying enemy manpower during an attack, vehicles can take away more resources, and warriors are better at protecting their camp.

It follows from the above that if you want to attack the enemy for the sake of destruction (for example, you want to exterminate the infected in the city), then it is best to use shooters - even against a living enemy, they will work better if his defense consists of more protected warriors. If you want to collect more resources, then you should send cars - but make sure that the city you are attacking does not have an army of warriors waiting for you, otherwise the attack will not be very successful.

The best units for different tasks

Of course, in general, with some exceptions, the rule “The higher the level, the better the unit” works, but it should be understood that you are unlikely to be able to upgrade all the camps to hire units to level 30 at once (at least if you don’t have bottomless wallet for donations) and get endless food to maintain millions of high-level troops. In addition, the number of units is limited by the number of special camps they are supposed to live in, so you have to choose which units to train anyway.

We will select units for three tasks: destroying enemy defenses, defending our city, and collecting resources.

Destruction

The main troops for the destruction of enemy soldiers are arrows. Among the marksmen, the first ones worth special attention are the Veterans, which you will receive at the 10th level of the camp. These shooters have an attack of 35 and a defense of 17, which makes them stand out from both the previous Hunters (26/13) and the following snipers (25/19) on offense. The Hunters mentioned above are also worth your attention - they are, of course, not as effective as the Veterans, but you will get them already at the 7th level of the camp and they are significantly different from the previous Survivors (11/8). Also, Hunters, as well as the Veterans following them, have a greater firing range (8 units versus 5 for Survivors and Snipers), which also distinguishes them favorably when attacking. The top shooter is the Ghost, which unlocks at level 26 and has stats of 98/49 with 13 health and a range of 8. The next top level 30 shooter, the Zombie Hunter, has more HP - 15, but only shoots at a range of 5 units, and has the same attack/defense stats as the Wraith - given the price difference, the Wraith is a much more effective shooter at taking down enemies.

If you want to take warriors into battle (which is not the best idea, but if the enemy has a lot of machines, then it can help), then try to get a lot of level 7 Macheters (22/13) or reach for level 13 warriors (38/22) - you need to try to recruit warriors with a high attack rate in order to deal more damage to enemies as quickly as possible - do not be afraid to lose your warriors, because they can be cured in hospitals (if you built them in advance, of course). The top warrior for destroying opponents is the 26th level Terminator with indicators of 84/49. He loses a lot in terms of health and defense to Hero Z level 30 (18hp vs. 42hp, 49 HP vs. 114 (!)), but at the same time he has the highest attack rating among warriors - 84, which is what we need for an attack.

If you decide to take cars to attack (although it’s better to do this in order to collect resources, and not to destroy the enemy), then everything is simple with them - with each level, their attack rises more than defense. It would seem that you just need to take the highest-level ones - but no, there is another difference in some vehicles regarding the attack range. The first vehicle capable of shooting at the enemy is a level 10 Military Jeep with stats of 32/17 and 7hp. It shoots with a range of 4 units. Before you send your cars into battle, it's better to get to him. If you try a little more and get the crews up to level 13, then you will get an Armored Car with better characteristics (41/22 and 9hp).

Protection

Warriors specialize in defense and the best defender is without a doubt Hero Z - his 114 defense and 42 hp allow him to fight non-stop. The only problem is that it opens only at the 30th level of the military camp. The very first available good defender will be a Samurai with characteristics of 15/35 and 15hp - you will get it at the 10th level of development. Before that, do not use level 7 Macheters to protect - it is better to recruit more level 4 warriors who have higher defense and health indicators (19 and 9 versus 13 and 6 for Macheters).

Arrows are needed if you are being attacked by warriors - shooters with high damage and range, such as Veterans and generally any attack marksmen that can deal a lot of damage from afar, will cope here to prevent melee warriors from getting close. The only problem is that opponents rarely attack with warriors - so it's worth keeping also shooters with good protection, like Snipers, to shoot at the vehicles that have come for your resources.

Cars are needed for defense as a countermeasure to attacking shooters. Choose the highest tier vehicles available to increase their health and defense stats, and get "tanks" that take on gunners' fire when defending.

Gathering resources

Here, it goes without saying, the automobile troops shine - they have much higher speed and carrying capacity indicators and they are able to collect more resources faster. The best collector is the Messenger of Peace of level 30 with a speed of 14 and a carrying capacity of 11, but, as you understand, there is still development and development before him. Before it, it is better to use cars of the 7th level (14 and 8) and school buses of the 16th level (14 and 9) for collection. Cars before and between them have a lower speed and, accordingly, load resources more slowly.

Riflemen and warriors at max level are able to carry more - but much slower. Comparing them, it's better to say that warriors are able to carry more shooters - they raise their carrying capacity earlier (at level 7 vs. 13) at the same speed, and warriors of levels 13, 22 and 26 are even faster than others - a speed of 9 units. If you want to carry more resources when attacking with arrows. described earlier, it is worth swinging right up to level 19 snipers - they hit hard and carry more. When using melee troops, focus on Warriors of the 13th level - they attack painfully and carry weights faster.

Conclusion

Remember that despite the strengths and weaknesses in the “triangular” ratio, each type of unit has its own specifics and is better suited for certain tasks. By leveling up your commander, you can improve one or another type of unit and perform better in certain tasks. By improving the shooters, you will hit the enemy more painfully, by improving the warriors you will not let the enemy break into the city, and by improving the cars you will be able to collect more resources faster. It is better to focus on improving one type of troops, gradually pulling others to it, and complete the corresponding tasks - this will determine your style of play and allow you to develop more efficiently.
