Lecture read by the Honored Coach of the USSR in Loo on April 17, 2014 at the coaching seminar
Few people disputes the need and usefulness of the analysis of the playd games. This analysis allows you to find perfect errors, solve scheduled operations of the parties, determine the critical and turning points in the chess battle and as a result of all this to draw conclusions to help further improve the game of the chess player.
I began to engage in this case, fifty years ago, when, after graduating from the Moscow Energy Institute, I was forced to move away from an active game in competitions in view of a large workload engineering work in a very serious OKB. In 1973, I still returned to the chess world, adopting an offer to become one of the coaches of the USSR national teams.
Well, in early 1976, fate gave me a wonderful chance - I began to work tightly with a little Wunderkind from Baku, who in a couple of years he learned the entire chess world. It was Harry Kasparov.
I will not speak further about the details and method of working with this super-depth youth. I will only say that the analysis of the collected parties, both joint and separate, was one of the main forms of its training process.
Clara Kasparova, Harry Kasparov, Vitaly Melik-Karamov and Alexander Nikitin (Vilnius, 1984)
Harry's takeoff fell on the endgame of the chess docking period, when the quality of analytical work depended only on the desire of the chess player to get to the truth, spending time on this a lot of time and strength. Harry has had a huge love of chess from the smallest years and a constant desire to learn how much of their secrets. An analysis of the various kinds of positions that arose at different stages of this wise game, fascinated the boy first, and then a young man in the same extent.
The results of our analyzes were entered by Garick in thick notebooks. I, having time to create in the Central Chess Club (which is in Gogol Boulevard) Perfocartyr, put his tests to his own chapels, who became the first attempt to facilitate the collection and storage of the necessary chess information and, most importantly, the rapid extraction of its perflocarts from its own instances from a large massif on which Specific information was kept for me. In the seventies, the flow of information every year became more and more, and became a real threat to choke in this stream of new parties and analyzes published in books, chess newspapers and magazines, in special issue, etc. Recovered us invasion of computers to the world of chess.
At first, these were primitive gaming modules, unsuitable even for the role of sparring partners of a serious chess player. But the whole world was waiting for computers capable of solving at all chess tasks. Since chess allowed to study the process of playing chess movements, they became a test landfill to work out serious analytical programs intended for use in science, management, in military business and in many other areas of human activity. Analytical programs designed for chess remained not long to wait. True, the first computers only allowed chess profi not to carry a heavy suitcase with them to competence, made by magazines, informants, analytical notebooks, etc., but for the usual work now they were not adapted.
The first my computer was "Atari 1040", to buy which in 1987 I spent b aboutwe have a more part of your fee received at the end of the Seville, the fourth match of two ka. Now I could ride the competition and training charges with a small suitcase, where my computer was packed, in the small hard drive of which all chess information was kept on the trip. I was pleased with this and very coast my computer. Then computers cost us extremely expensive. So, my colleague, returning from Seville, exchanged the same "Atari" to the new "Zhiguli". My "Atari" served me faithfully for five years, while I was in 1992, having stopped the editorial board of the Dutch magazine "New in Chess", I did not buy a computer at a similar time to the processor 386 SL. It was a real laptop that allowed working with the first versions of the "Chess Base" and "Chess Assistant". True, about any advanced forms of work did not allow to think of its weak memory - operational 1.0 megabytes, and the memory of the Winchester 40 megabytes made it possible to use it only as a repository selected by the valuable chess information. I quickly scan writing on paper, all comments of parties and debut analyzes did on the computer and automatically saved in its memory. So the same five years continued until the parameters of my computer friend did not noticeably give up new, more powerful and rapid brothers. The coaching problems that I had to solve were becoming more difficult, my chess information bank demanded a move to a new, more spacious premises, and had a computer to change.
Somehow it is believed that computers are very quickly obsolete, and their long-fledged utility is about two years. I quietly work with my silicone helpers for five years, quickly getting used to them, I recognize their features. They become my friends with whom it is a pity to part. So, if your chess problems are not complicated, then do not rush to part with the aged computers. No wonder they say that an old friend is better than new two.
For the next five years I had a computer on the Pentium 266 processor, allowed to work with serious programs "Chess Base 7.0" and "Fritz 5.0". Their use allowed to feel more confident when analyzing debut schemes. True, the estimates issued by the computers were sometimes very controversial, and I immediately took the rule not to go about them, but to rely on my understanding of the position.
Honored Coach of the USSR, Senor-coach FIDE, International Master Alexander Sergeevich Nikitin
Now I have been closely friendly friends with a laptop of the company "ASUS", the heart of which is the intel (R) Core TM i3 CPU dual-core processor, which is quite sufficient to carry out checked clock frequency (2.4 megaggers); More than sufficient and hard disk capacity (40 gigabytes). I am completely satisfied with his work: both for good accuracy of its estimates and the time of their receipt. Now there are computers that the same results can get twice as fast, but it does not care if I do not like to rush my friend.
I must say that accumulated by me experience with the latest analytical programs, such as "Houdini 4", "Stockfish 4", "Komodo 5" allowed to draw conclusions over which you should think about.
1. No computer can strengthen your game. He can warn against rough mistakes when analyzing and at the end of it (the termination of the analysis is determined by you, again based on your understanding of the position), give a certain amount of information with its purely formal numerical estimates (there are always several of them) that you must check on the basis of Your understanding of the position and, most importantly, comparing with its, "human" assessment, to make the final choice.
2. The leading in the analysis should be a person. It is necessary to firmly assimilate that the computer is a conscientious account, and the thinker and the main thing in finding a chess truth - you.
3. I am ridiculous to see young chess players playing by the master's candidate, but already having powerful computers with quad-core processors. For them, it is like playing a lot of crystal or gold chess, instead of ordinary wooden figures. On such computers, it is good to spend time on complex games like "star wars", etc., but this is already as they say, another song. Dual-core processors are quite sufficient to solve chess problems. Better on saved money to buy good chess books.
Next, I will try to simulate the process of analyzing the chess batch using a computer. To do this, I took the party of old masters, not at all long, not unmistakable, but without coarse zevkov. She was already analyzed by the grandmaster of a 6 years ago grandmaster, and I wanted to see if my more powerful computer would be able to find something new in the lighting of events that took place in this interesting and instructive batch. I note that during the lecture, I, of course, did not show the options longer than 5-6 moves; They are further provided for independent analysis by coaches and students.

Some players will not wait to start a fight without prior maneuvers. True, most of them rating barely quit for 2100 - for this it is enough to see the sample of parties from megabase. I operate in my comments by examples of the game of stronger chess players who can penetrate the position, expressing the computer language, on b about we have a depth and for less time.
The loss of castling here cannot have serious consequences, as the position in the center is stable. In the meantime, it is stable, the E5 pawn provides a white spatial advantage, and black inconvenience associated with close in their own home, part of which is shot by the enemy. I want to somehow remove this pawn, but not particularly decisive scares the autopsy of the game and the threat of your own king. This is how the conflict of interest is immediately tied and chess Maidan arises.
Serious players prefer to get a small positional advantage, but not lose the casting. 10.BD2. (+0,10) BXD2 + 11.QXD2 QB4 12.RC1 QXD2 + 13.KXD2 NB6 14.B3 Ke7 15.H4 BD7 16.RH3 NB4 17.BB1 A5 18.A3 + / =, Cerez - Flores, 1939.
10...0-0?! (+1,15)
Rudolf Spielman in his scarce comments awarded the only question mark to the castling of the Black King and called this natural course of a decisive mistake that admits the standard victim of an elephant on H7. Indeed, he was not mistaken, speaking mistakes, there are moves and better made by him. The casting of the black at the moment is a move in which there is a lot of provocations, because a less-experienced player immediately lights the eyes at the sight of H7 pawns. "Beat or beat?" - immediately arises an ancient question.
Let's first consult with computers. My computer assistants are "Stockfish 4" and solid "Komodo 5", as I expected, were not united in an express assessment of the consequences of the seductive victim of the elephant. Stokefish decided to sacrifice instantly (11.BXH7 +), immediately giving her powerful support "+1.21". The Komodo did not notice this move at all, in comparison with the solid stuffing 11.Be3 and two similar moves given to me to choose from. I decided to give them time to work. Only after 15 minutes, reaching the depth of the calculation of 25 dossies, the commodo deigned to see the victim of the elephant and its benefits, immediately putting the course to the first line with the estimate "+0.79". At the same time, he indicated the variant evidence more convincing than his competitor Stockfisher. Next, I decided to see, at what depth of calculating the computer will stop moving on. After the hour of work, they dramatically slow the speed of their calculations, and to continue their operation further did not make sense. I had to fix such results of their work: "Stockfish 4" reached a depth of 31 seaside and retained the former enthusiastic attitude towards the victim of an elephant when evaluating the course of the second line (11.A3), also quite high (+ 1.05). Komodo 5 was more thoughtful. It reached the depth of the calculation of 26 dips and retained a respectful attitude towards the victim of the elephant, leaving it on the first line (+0.88), away from the second-mining (11.Be3 rating +0.31). At the same time, it is worth noting that the best "human" course found by nannet (11.NF4) was not awarded the attention of analysts-bills.
Having learned the view of the computer, we will continue our purely chess parsing. The main debut idea of French protection lies in the undermining of whites of whites in the center. Since the d4 pawning undermining is successfully reflected, black should be hurrying with an E5 pawn, unpleasantly shining movement of black figures. This goal is the extension of the F7-F6 pawn, which needs to be carried out as quickly as possible.
1) 10 ... F5?(+0.90) A fundamental error that does not require variant evidence. Black refuse to undermine the foot center and should now tolerate naughty in the constrained position without counterparts. Hands make the first moves of the winning plan, giving a relax head: 11.H4 0-0 12.RH3 H6 13.RG3 KH8 14.Be3.
Computers that follow my moves give here a cruel assessment of such a debut strategy of black: "+2.04 or + -". I agree and stop further analysis.
2) 10 ... F6 (0.56)
We look again how "stockfish4" works: 1 minute - the depth of calculation of 20 dossies, the estimate of the position "+0.58"; 2 minutes - 22 days and "+0.08"; 6 minutes - 26 dossies and score "0.00".

At this acute position, checking the work of the "stockfish4" invoice in a single-processor stationary computer was started. White hurry, maybe it's not in vain. After all, the next move is one of the black pawns - F7 or H7 can go to the 6th row, and then the possibility of the victim of the elephant will become irrelevant. Of course, the hand still stretches to "clap" on the H7, after which the White Queen breaks into the fortress, where the enemy king hides, and this has to be fleeting. It was this circumstance that allowed a large fan to interture to consider the victim of an elephant justified, for he believed in his ability to lead the attack and believed that "further attacking opportunities would be automatically found. Donating the elephant, I was convinced that my attack should somehow lead to victory. "
However, not all so simple. The position of black is unpleasant by the fact that their figures are located in some unrest, interfere with organize a counterpore. Using this, white can look for a way to strengthen the attacking group. And then it is not difficult to pay attention to the horse jump E2.
11.NF4! (+0.90). This calm strengthening of the attacking potential was found by the grandmaster Nannom, who did not believe in the effectiveness of the victim of a white elephant, figures, by the way, very useful when attacking the king. If the attack chooses, the absence of looking behind white fields can create them serious problems.

Nanna's move "showed" his account, when after 12 minutes of the settlement work he did not highlight it on the monitor, and the favorite remained a stroke made by a spielman, with an assessment that had reached "+1.27". The first phase of the White attack ended. Now they need to choose from several very seductive continuations. Protecting the black king is practically no one, the only transshipment point - the E7 field is a saving loophole for the continuous flight of the monarch, if it succeeds. On the other hand, only two white figures participate in the attack. But this couple is good only for king's maturity in the area of the F7 item. White solve the problem of this item, but not the best way.
15.QH8 +?(-0.16)
It is impossible to say that this failure is obvious. However, this is really a failure. White queen took up not the case. Troubled pursuit, he drives the enemy king from the danger zone into relative safe temporary refuge on the D8, where the path is coming to safer to B8. In the award, he will get two unfortunate pawns of the royal flank and the liberation of the road for a white passage in the queen.
However, further we will see the discrepancy of the winner's approval: "The idea that every victim should be calculated with the highest possible accuracy, fundamentally incorrect. When attacking only faith is required to position (?) And in itself," With the conclusions of a thorough analysis, which proves that here white passed past two significantly more efficient continuations of attack.
First of all, it should be noted that an attempt to immediately play the sake of the attack figure 15. A3 exposes the defect in the white position - weakening the pawns D4. This circumstance can be used black with great benefits - 15 ... NXD4! 16.AXB4 QB5!, And after the forced fastener of queens, white remain without pawns and without initiative.
Discussed a bad opportunity, let's talk about good.
1) 15.QH5!? The winner, quite satisfied with the victory, does not even mention a different version of the scenario invented by him when white get to the F7's pawns before. This time saving sharply enhances the attack, making it irresistible, for example: 15 ... G6 (+2.20) 16.QH7 Ke7 (16 ... ND8 17.NE4 !! + -) 17.QXF7 + KD8 18.NXE6 + RXE6 19. 2) 15.NF3! (+1.27). Horse, jumping back, not enough that he strengthened the protection of the central pawn, he, most importantly, gave the road to Elephant, and his appearance on the G5 field threatens to immediately end the battle.
Computers do not immediately realize the power of this maneuver, and approximately half a minute I see their outrage. Their favorite (15.QH5) was shifted from the first line only at the depth of calculation of 25 dossies, and immediately with an estimate of the horse jump "+1.90", and after calculating 27 diligents, the assessment reached "+2.16".

Black was worth protecting the pawn: 16 ... Rf8 17.nxe6! "So far, my opponent pondered his move, I am deep in the position and decided that this victim wins immediately." R. Spielman. Sorry, grandmaster did not lead a variant evidence of deep penetration. Nann, however, somehow casually notes that the winner simply did not worry about the calculation of the options and rely on his intuition. And in vain ... something is not visible to win immediately, except that only in the case of 17 ... kxe6? 18.NF4 + KE7 NXD5 +. 17.QXF7? (-1.11)
Moving temporary calm has to reflections. I want to look at the position of "Human", throwing in the direction of the sheet with computer counts. Something is not entirely, but maybe it turned out at all. The game on the mat bloody, and now for them the most important thing - push the pawn as far as possible, but where?
Find the strengthening of the White Nannet attack was the old method. This position, he considered the first intermediate result of the victim of an elephant on H7. Then there was a legal question: "What did it achieve whites for these six moves?" Yes, they received for a donated elephant sufficient honest equivalent. But not miserable pawns were their goal when they started the attack. King killed in the center, where he was under the protection of the black figures already standing there. Well, what about it? The threat of taking the e6 pawns is easy to reflect easily, at least putting a horse on the F8, and in its place to withdraw an elephant, even more strengthening the defense of the king. It is not difficult to understand that the two white figures, the "ragged" royal fortress requires reinforcement to continue the offensive. But the introduction into the battle of the reserves is required (approximately 3-4 strokes), and for this short temporary cut, black will have time to withdraw the flare on C8, the king to hide on the B8, and will be ready to start their game. It turns out that it is not so great to achieve white in the attack. In a practical game of these general considerations and arguments, it is enough to question the correctness of the victim of the elephant. And it forced the English grandmaster to start looking for a strengthening for whites, returning to the position that arose after ten moves. So he found a move 11.NF4!
Let's return to the position on the last chart. The assessment of it is completely unclear. White stands only to strengthen the way 17.Be3 (+0.30) BE7 18.B3, and then a rapid game begins on counter courses: 18 ... A5 19.H4 A4 20.B4! QXB4 21.NXF7 + KC7 22.RC1. White passage looks frightened, and many would have moved to the side of white, but the computers are here in their elements. They somehow manage to save black and at 22 ... NB6, and even at 22 ... b6. The further illustrative options given - excellent food for lovers to prove the generally accepted chess axioma "any long version contains an error."
By the way, this is everyday statement impregnated by tears of many chess analysts who were fond of long analytical studies. Practices want to know, and how long the options should be when the probability of error must be large, and that in this case it is considered an error. As for the length of the option, again, the city of Kasparov believes that "in complex positions, the tree of options (notice," tree ", and not only one barrel) is usually traced (them!) To the depth of up to ten dips, which is quite reliable depth . In a practical party it is important to understand when it is necessary to stop the settlement work. Typically, this moment comes when you come to a certain estimate of the position (again, based on your chess force), or when to continue the calculation ... no time. "
Well, an error in the embodiment, due to which all the calculated work turns out to be a waste of time, it may not necessarily be a rude view of a strong response of the enemy, but also the presence of a pair of side branches from the trunk, guiding the game with ways with completely obscure consequences. How many times they bought lovers to follow the computer road (at least from time saving). Even such a chess monster, as V. L. Corrun, said that he did not like to analyze with a computer, since he leads him for some time, and then suddenly changes the estimate of the position, and it had to start all over again.

It seems that the last move made by the spielman gives black more opportunities in the fight for the initiative.
18.H4 BD7 (-0.42)
19.Be3 (-0.85).
In appearance, a useful stuffing move, but it had to be done on the move later, then the White was able to save an important pace, which allowed them to consolidate the position: 19.H5 QA6! 20.Be3! KC7 21.A3 RAC8. Although the position still remained more promising for black: 22.RD1 ND8 23.QF3 BE7 24.H6 KB8 25.H7 ng6 = / +.
19 ... RC8? (0.00)
Immediately and you can not say that it is a mistake, but in fact black do how natural, so late in this situation, when the swift promotion of the white passage it was necessary to oppose the same rapid deployment of active consiprigra. In this party, the black was not silent in the understanding of the position, and to his misses should be tolerant. The grandmaster was in my opinion, in full confidence that everything goes according to plan, and therefore at some moments weakened vigilance, being confident that everything would be fine. The analysis proves that the work of the roam of black is missed about the rest of the big advantage given to them, whom they did not deserve and which was achieved by the immediate beginning of counter-production at the Ferzian flank.
19 ... be7! (-0.95) This is the strengthening of the protection of the king, and the attack on the pawn B2. White is already difficult to give a good advice. 20.H5 (20.B3 QA6! 21.H5 NB4! 22.RC1 (22.H6 NC2 23.RC1 RC8 24.QF4 BB5 25.kg1 NXE3 26.RXC8 + KXC8 27.NC3 BXG5 28.QXG5 NF5 29.NXB5 QXB5 30.H7 NXH7 31.RXH7 NXD4 32.QG7 KB8 - +) 22 ... Black do not think about activity, but customize the shapes closer to the king. Now it is called a "dense" game. A serious battle of three results flashed at 20 ... Qa6 21.H6 NE7. However, with proper protection, everything ended with the world: 22.H7 NXH7 23.NXH7 RC2 24.NF6 QXE2 + 25.KG1 BD2 26.BXD2 QXD2 27.RF1 RC1 28.G3 RXF1 + 29.KXF1 QXD4 30.NXE8 BXE8 31.QXE6 (31. White already out of danger of loss. However, they hardly thought about this joyful moment and, not noticing the dangers who threatened them, continued to play victory, introducing the reserve in battle. Equality after 21.H6 QA6 22.H7 NXH7 23.NXH7 RC2 was already considered. The equality ended with an acute struggle at 21.kg1 NF5 22.H6 BE7 23.H7 NXH7 24.RXH7 RF8 25.QH5 QXB2 26.RD1 NXE3 27.FXE3 QA3 28.KH2 QXE3 29.NF7 + KC7 30.RC1 + KB8.
21... NF5 22.h6.NXE3 + 23.fXE3 (0.00)
23 ... BB5 + ?? (+3.98)
Here and the help of white arrived. The same has affected the difference in the class, especially since black was in stunt. They admit, indeed, a decisive error at the moment when the outcome of the sink battle continued to remain unclear. Well, with such a set of misses loses the one who is mistaken by the latter.
After 23 ... BE7 (0.00) 24.H7 NXH7 25.NXE6 + BXE6 26.NXE6 + KD7 27.nf4 QB5 + 28.kg1 NG5 It was impossible to talk about someone's advantage in position, full of life: 29.A4 QXB2 30.QXD5 + KC7 31.QA2 QXA2 32.RXA2 KD7 33.KF2 RC4 34.KE2 REC8 =.
Now you can already have an unparalleled art of the attack of the famous Corrif of the past. And I remember the Great Kudesman Mikhail Tal and his attacks - these were miracles!
24.KG1 RC7 25.H7 RXF7 26.NXF7 + KC8 27.H8Q
Black fit to give up, what they did through a dozen not at all mandatory moves.
So, what should be left in memory, viewing this interesting and instructive party?
1. The debut version from 10.kf1 is quite suitable for use of complications to fans, and for both colors. In case it is scheduled for its inclusion in a combat debut repertoire, it is worthwhile to record the "right" continuation of the game after the 10th stroke.
2. If you are going to sacrifice a serious material, then the solution must be accepted only after calculating the necessary options for an acceptable depth, which depends on the practical force of the player.
3. "If you do not manage to quickly find an excuse for the idea of the victim, removing all the ambiguities, then you should look for another, more reliable continuation, not a worsening position." (NAN). It will be practical if, seeing the idea of the victim, before it is calculated, first find this spare continuation.
4. Try to keep the situation under control and notice the slightest changes in the position of the position after each course, both your own and, especially someone else's. They can make you make adjustments to the choice of stroke.
5. When analyzing the party, respect the work of the computer that protects you from gross mistakes. But remember that the main thing in the analytical work is a person, i.e. you. And you only need to make the final choice of stroke. And it is not necessary that it will be a computer course of the first string.
6. First, it is worth checking on the computer that you consider the best on the basis of your understanding of the position and style of the game, and then compare it with the best choice of comp. After that, make the final choice.
7. Do not force the computer to give you advice at the pace, for it can give you an erroneous course. In principled positions, give a computer to think at least 3 minutes over each move. Always try to start such an analysis with an assessment of the position, based on general considerations and your positional understanding.
8. Always try to start a computer analysis of any position, with its assessment from general considerations and by virtue of your positional understanding. No analytical program will teach you to understand the position. She will only give you materials for reflection. No even the most powerful computer will strengthen your game if you have a weak sense of position.
Let's teach you chess wisdom only good books. But about this conversation is special.

To write this program I am advised by my once favorite Chess.com's favorite chess site. My account allowed there only a "deep" analysis of my parties (2-3 minutes per batch), and not "maximum" (4-6 minutes per party). In any case, computer analysis on chess.com is slow, as it does not use the Stokefish engine, and its implementation on the translated language of Java script. Thus, the results of the analysis of parties received on the website of Chess.com, often unsatisfactory. Comparison of the results of the analysis of parties on the CHESS.COM website and the local analysis of the Binary Stokefish is far from the first.
It is curious that immediately after publishing this program, my account on Chess.com was closed without any explanation and return of the annual membership fee! (I had to claim him later). Is my program really inflicted them serious financial damage? I would have dineded at their place to earn money on a poor-quality analysis of chess games (made in addition to the Stokefish free chess engine!) And impose a limit on the time of analysis of the party depending on the monetary amount made for membership. It remains only to wish chess.com success in their desire for a "honest" game!
In addition, the analysis is similar to Cheskomovsky, simply does not exist or really does not work in chess programs under Windows. In "Scid VS. PC" it is not, and in the ChessBase "Deep Analysis" does not work at all! I wonder what the developers think about this?
Therefore, I decided to write my own analyzer of chess games, similar to Cheskovsky, only much more quickly, easy to install and convenient in configuration and use.
Functional analyzer of chess games "Creative"
Main features and restrictions
- Easy to install
- Simplicity and ease of use. Just right-click on the PGN file and select "analyze". The file obtained as a result of the analysis will automatically open in the graphical application for PGN files by default
- New in version 4.1! Graphic interface of parties selection for analysis
- New in version 4.1! The best engine running is now saved in the Best_Moves.db database for quick search. No need to spend time on the analysis of a known position
- New in version 4! PGN-extract.exe and coreinfo.exe are no longer needed. The analyzer of the Clamatics Chess Parties is now capable of independently converting from one chess notation to another and define the type of your processor. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 is still needed, as well as the SQLite library, which is included in the delivery
- New in version 4! Graphic interface for settings - no longer need to edit chessgame-analyzer.exe.config file using a text editor
- New in version 4! Deep analysis - a chess engine will play with a sauba several parties after each turn and determine the best course of statistically based on the results of the playd games. A powerful computer is required and a lot of time to use deep analysis. Played batchs are saved in the database and can be used to analyze other parties.
- New in version 4! Improved version of the SQLite database compiler is now included in the analyzer.
- New in version 4.1.0.13! SQLite kingbaselite.db database updated to 01/19. It includes the first 20 moves of kingbaselite.pgn parties, played by opponents with Elo rating not lower than 2,200 and the ranking difference is no more than 200. This base is designed to search for statical best options in debuts
- Attention! SQLite Database for version 4.0.0.0 is not compatible with the database for version 3.0.0.0! Please download a new base
- New in version 4! A set of chess tasks is supported for AraSan engines in PGN and EPD formats - you can compare the abilities of your favorite engines to solve chess puzzles
- Please note that the format of the annotation template files has changed. Therefore, template files for version 3.0.0.0 are not compatible with template files for version 4.0.0.0
- New in version 4.1.0.13! The last at the time of release of this version of the Stokefish 10 binaries (developer assembly of February 8, 2019)
- New in version 3! Ultrafast search for statistically better options for a large chess database
- New in version 3! ChessDB-Compiler.exe (chessdb-compiler.exe) to quickly find statistically better options for PGN chess databases
- New in version 3! The ability to download an already ready-made compiled database for ultra-fast (hundreds of times faster than in Chesbaz, for example) the search for statistically better options (includes more than a million parties since 2000, ELO rating of players is not less than 2200, details on the http site: // www. kingbase-chess.net)
- New in version 3! Annotation templates make it possible to comment on the parties in any language in any style
- New in version 3! Three well-documented templates in Russian and English are supplied as an example with the program.
- Professional - practically without words, some options with a symbolic estimate at the end of the option
- Semi-professional - short monotonous comments - used by the default program
- Amateur - more detailed diverse comments on your taste
- New in version 3! Ability to output multiple options - set by the Multipv parameter in the configuration file
- New in version 3! Symbolic position estimate at the end of the option
- Support for any UCI -Ancable chess engines
- Auto-tuning of most parameters. The ability to manual configuration through the configuration file
- Russian and English interfaces
- Automatic (without user participation) Analysis of a large number of parties
- Support standard PGN.
- Support for any windos codings PGN, ECO files and annotation templates
- New in version 3! Updated binaries (with fixed bugs and increased speed) Default engine - STOCK 8, strongest today (my source assembly with GitHub on September 7, 2017
- Setting time on the course, the depths of the miscalculation, the number of threads and the amount of memory for the engine
- Ability to start an analysis of the party starting with the initial position, from any course
- Ability to analyze batch starting from any position
- Customizable Priority of the Chess Engine
- Classification of parties in Russian or English (Eco code, the name of the debut and option)
- Ability to use your classification file by specifying it as the ECO_FILE parameter value
- Support Fisher Chess (Chess 960). Chesbaza reads them correctly, and SCID VS PC gives errors - does not support.
So, my program is a cantilever application under MS Windows. Party analysis results can be seen on the screen immediately, but more conveniently view them in a graphic chess application that can read PGN files, for example, in Chessbase or.
The program comes with a free Stockfish engine, the strongest today. You can also configure the application for the use of commercial engines, such as a commodo or guestbie (not supplied with the program), as well as any other favorite chess engine compatible with UCI.
During the batch analysis, the following information is displayed on the screen:
- program name, its version and developer
- party headlines (tags)
- the name of the chess engine and the names of its developers,
- the number of streams and the size of the Hash engine in MB,
- tracks with position assessment, analysis depth and comments.
Each default course is accompanied by an assessment of the position and depth of the calculation. If the difference between the rating of the best stroke and the course made in the game, more than certain threshold values, the comment is displayed about inaccuracies, error or zowka. The best course and continuation are also indicated in the form of a variation. At the end of the variation reported on the assessment of the best stroke, the depth of the calculation, the number of nodes in the MU and the speed of analysis in MU / s. If the engine sees the mat, then the moves leading to the mat will also be shown.
When the difference in the assessment of the positions of the parties exceeds one pawn, incentive comments are included. If the move coincides with the best move of the engine, then congratulations are displayed. If the difference in the assessment between the best move and made in the party does not exceed 0.2 pawns, it is reported good and better continuation. Incentive annotations are characterized by their tone, depending on whether the side wins, or the contrary loses.
Analysis results are stored in a new PGN file, the name of which consists of the name of the source PGN file and suffix "-proanalized_<движком>"(or" -AnalyZED_BY_
After the analysis is completed, the results will automatically be displayed in the graphic chess application for PGN files by default, for example, in Chessbase, SCID VS PC, or any other that understands the PGN format.

Stockfish 10 (latest developers assemblies)
The analyzer of chess games comes together in the Free Stokefish chess engine, which today is the strongest. It consists of four binary files:
- stockfish_10_32bit.exe - for the 32-bit Vindos version
- stockfish_10_x64.exe - for the 64-bit version of Windows
- stockfish_10_x64_modern.exe - for the 64-bit version of Windows operating on a computer with a processor supporting POPCNT instructions
- stockfish_10_x64_bmi2.exe - For the 64-bit version of Windows operating on a computer with a processor supporting BMI2 instructions
By default, the chess analyzer will automatically select an optimal binary file.
With a huge number of servers where you can play online with a "alive" opponent - from PlayChess.com to chess.rc-mir.com or chesshotel.ru (yes Legion them), find a web-interface to a decent chess "engine" is not easy, cavity I managed to go on just that:
1. Play chess online with "engine" shredder:
P.S. According to a professional, to the strength of the real snorkeleton, online engine has a little relationship :)
2. Play chess online with "Rybka" Rybka:
Code for connecting on your site:
P.S. It seems that the second gluchic script - stably hangs after several moves.
Uploading scripts, especially on slow connections, may require time ... In case of problems, press the F5 key in your browser to update the page. Applications and JavaScript included in the browser and JavaScript, as well as support for the floating frame tag
Flashki We also do not think it is not developing engines with databases, and they are everywhere, mostly, 3-4 - Spark Chess, Asischess, Flash Chess.
About the engines and the UCI protocol is well written.
If there is something to replenish - report. It is desirable that the codes are the same as in this article - a simple tag
P.s "s
3 . Still suggested the option as if you do not play with the engine, then invalidize:
If there is only a computer with the Internet, but I want to play or analyze with little a decent prog, then where to go? Free and without registration. So far I do not see anything better than entering such situations in the look at tournaments and enter as a lateral option what you want to see. The local engine is although there is little time, but the errors in the batches of the elite finds.
1. Close to any Games.
2. Scroll to the beginning.
3. Make a move (directly with the mouse on the board or choose under the board).
4. Select a response option.
Plays there more or less real Stockfish with a depth of miscalculation up to 20 moves. On other sites (tournaments) you can online to invoke a similar way, just get to any party.
Good day, dear friend!
Computers have long played stronger than man. The best chess programs and is suppressed, directly competing with them on an equal footless, even the strongest chess players.
However, the Iron Monster is not so great and mighty, as you think. Him there are weak points and disadvantages . Which chess player of any level is simply obliged to take into account.
About this at the end of the article, but for now, look at a second in the computer and make an overview of the best engines and user interfaces.
What's inside?
Computer program (engine) is a countable unit. It considers it operates with numbers and does not understand what chess is .
The program translates the chess language into mathematical actions. Folds, deducts and compares the numbers. At the end of each option puts a numerical assessment.
So work chess engines.
Engines
Competitions consisting of a large number of games are also held between the engines, much greater than between people. The results are drawn up rating sheets.
Rating engines 2016.
Komodo.
Komodo ranks first in most Retanels. Interest is that the commodo is distinguished by its brains from most fellow.
He learned better evaluating and relies on the assessment to a greater extent, and the calculation depth is smaller.
Perhaps this also lies the secret. The engine combined the best qualities of a person and car. However, these are my assignments that, of course, are not the truth in the last instance.
Last commercial engine version - 11.2 . For free free distribution, Komodo 9 and version of older are offered.
You can download by the main portal of the publisher
Stockfish
This is a logo. In the translation of Stokefish-dried fish. Where is such an allegory - I do not take judge
Stokish competes lately with Komodo.and Houdini.and for a number of indicators operates its rivals
Stockfish successes are largely obliged to distribute policies. Having created the gain, the developers are posting the version for testing to all users. Perhaps for this reason serious bugs almost left.
The program is free. The latest version is eight. You can download here: https://stockfishcess.org/download/
But that's not all. The engine without interface is difficult for practical purposes .
Shells and client programs
In order to use the ability of the engine, seeing it, you need a shell, interface. Custom Chess Program (Shell) Plus Engine (or Several) is a ready-made product suitable for human use.
I will give examples of the best in my opinion, shells and client programs:
Arena
One of the most famous and powerful programs. Can be used as a user interface, shell for almost all the best engines
You can download / install on the official site of the arena.
Chessbase.
Perhaps the most advanced analytical program from the known author.
Chessbase assumes all the necessary analytical tools and can:
- Work with databases Parties- Watch Party Played and analyze
- To search by imprisoned parameters: debuts, position, material ratio, endgame and other.
- Download your parties, with comments and cage
- Analyze by selecting various engines
- Create players dossier based on databases
- Print parties and charts in various configurations
As well as much more.
Last program version - Chessbase-13.
Shredder Classic 3.
One of the best chess shredder engines complete with the interface.
- The possibility of playing both with the engine at different levels and on the network with real rivals
- Selection of time controls, the ability to create your own control.
- Analysis and parties and positions
- Interface setting: design of boards and figures, etc. figures, and the like on.
The full version is not free. To begin with, you can download the conditionally free option.
Chess planet.
Specialized program associated with the portal http://chessplanet.ru/, where you can play online, in tournaments, by correspondence, play according to the correspondence. Competitions are held and many interesting things.
The client program is installed on the user's computer and provides the ability to play, communicate on the forum, view and analyze batch, watch lessons, and more.
There is a simplified version when you can play in the browser without installing the client program on the computer.
Install the client and get acquainted with the portal more
Babaschess.
Multilingual interface (Russian truth did not find) for playing via the Internet.
Combines ease of use and a fairly wide range of functions. This bribes.
Works on Windows. Can also work in Linux
For learning
For beginner chess players and for learning, in my opinion, it is better to use multidisciplinary chess portals or online school.
However, there are offline programs. For example, you can install on the smartphone:
Training in chess - from simple to complex
Something like navigator in the world of chess. The application will show the basic rules and give advice to improve the game.
The training course contains more hundreds topics. Including the main techniques and typical combinations. More 1000 Different examples.
Read more and install here
Do not believe our eyes
The best chess engines are already partly "thought" and in terms of assessing positions are similar to people. However, they are mistaken. And rude.
Just one example, the easiest:
Position "On the board" Non And this is known to most chess players, not only masters. Yes, it is not difficult to guess - the black king is sitting in the corner and it is impossible to smoke it from there. Nor put to put nor the pawn. A pressed in the corner - Pat.
So, most of the engines, even the most modern, - evaluates this position as the White won. Stokefish gives +7 . Do not believe - you can check yourself.
In fact, such examples when the car is rudely mistaken in the assessment of the position - I could bring exactly a dozen. Why this happens, I am unknown, but the fact is a fact.
Hence the conclusion: defiring the computer, it will not be superfluous to remember that and "on the old woman there is a drup" . It turns out that not only we check our calculations using a computer. Sometimes the reverse process is required. That's it.

Chess game analysis
Using chessbase engines
(Part one)
Steve Lopez
Chess programs "Explosion" over the past fifteen years has a lot of positive advantages of chess players, not the last of which is the ability to play chess at any time at their discretion. You do not have to wait for a weekly meeting of a chess club or take chess to the park hoping to get casual games.
But the most important feature, provided, in almost all packages, chess programs are often the most overlooking: the ability to have a chess engine analysis of your game and provide personal information on how to improve your game.
The whole reason why I bought my first computer back in the early 1990s was to access this function. I play chess and chess books of study for many years, but never had any experience. Someone looks at my games and showing me where I went wrong. After I purchased a computer and some chess programs, and began using them to analyze my game, I learned a lot about my own flaws as a player. I decided to fix these problems, and my results on the board improved significantly.
In this short series of articles, I will show you how to do the same. Although a specific step by step instructions will be applied to the use of engines chess within the framework of the ChessBase program Chess interface (used byfritz, Hiarcs, Junior, Shredder, Fish, etc.), the principles that we will discuss applies to any chess program that has Ability to analyze the game. In the first article, we consider the foundations of creating and use the game Analysis of the features of the use of "full analysis" Feature in chessbase production plays the program interface. We will discuss the second article using the same "BlunderCheck" interface feature that also provides a complete analysis of the game with the yield to appear in a slightly more complex (but more useful) form. In the last article we will talk about the practical application of feedback of the chess program, for example, how to use this information to help you improve your own game skills.
If you want first-class analysis with your chess engine, there are some things you want to make before starting a chess program. Do not run any other programs while your chess engine analysis is you to loosen the engine, making it so. This proposal also includes any "background" (i.e., "complete and Stay Resident") programs that can be launched, for example, screen keepers, antivirus programs, "Guard roar", etc.
The next step to launch the game chess program (as noted above, we will use the chessbase production of game programs for this article). Press F3 to access the list of available engines and select the one you want to use, we will use Fritz in this article.
Complete analysis
After you have chosen your chess engine there are several different ways to continue. One must go to the game list of databases, double-click the game you want to analyze (download it to the main screen of the chess board), and then go to the Tools menu, select "Analyze" from the menu, and then "Full Analysis" to the submenu. I do not recommend this procedure several reasons. First, you cannot access the complete range of "full analysis" of options with this method. Secondly, you need to remember to manually save the game to the database after the analysis is completed.
Instead, I recommend the following procedures (which actually saves a couple of steps anyway). The first download the database in which you saved the game you want to analyze - hit F12 to open the game list window, and if the database is not shown correctly, go to the File / Open / Database to select the correct one. After you have downloaded a suitable database, find the game you want to analyze in the list and one click on it - this is placed the cursor over the game to highlight it in the list. Then go to the Tools menu, select "Analysis", and then "Full Analysis" in the submenu. Do this will be displayed as the following dialog:
There is a few things to consider here! This dialog allows you to set temporary parameters and manage the output analysis of your chess engine. Although this dialogue can look difficult at first glance, it is really very easy to use. Let's look at the various sections of this dialogue and explore what these parameters are made.
Calculation of time and thresholds
The first thing you should consider is the "time calculation" and "threshold" options. As a rule, the more time you allow your engine to calculate deeper ("further forward") it will look like in such a position - and you, therefore, better analysis in response. However, there are potential shortcomings in setting the time calculation or too high or too low.
First, we must understand that the time calculation actually means. The value in this field is set in seconds. If you set this value, say, "30", this means that your chess engine must (theoretically) to analyze every move in the game about thirty seconds on average. In practice, however, it does not work in this way. Setting the value "30" does not mean that the program will stop the analysis when it hits the thirty-second sign and the fall is the best option, it is in the game account. What does this mean that when the thirty-second sign is achieved the program will complete the analysis of the current layer depth prior to the provision of its analysis and move to the next go. If the program just started, say, the tenth layer is twenty-eight second sign, this may require two minutes or more before it finishes the evaluation that the tenth layer passes to the next go.
Thus, we can understand why the settings of the time calculation parameters are too high may be a flaw - it may require a lot, many hours of calculation of the program to complete your analysis. However, by setting the parameter too low (for example, to the value "5") makes the program in full, the game analysis is very fast (in a few minutes), but the quality of the program's proposals will be quite low.
Adequate configuration will differ from the machine to the machine and will require some experiments on your part to detect. Games Analysis Chess Engine is best done for the night - it is going to take a few hours for the program to ensure a decent quality analysis (six hours not too much time). The trick is to find a convenient time analysis, without connecting your computer for ten, twelve or more hours. Start with the "60" (as shown in the figure above). If you find that your program is completed with the analysis rather quickly (let's say, within two hours per 40-game game), you want to raise up time calculation. However, if you start the analysis process, go to bed, returns to eight hours, and the program is still analyzing the Mittelspile from the 40th game, you need to reduce the time calculation parameter, respectively.
The threshold is given in increments of 1 / 100th pawn - in other words, the threshold value "1" is 0.01 pawns. The threshold allows you to control how much an analysis of a chess engine provides the circumstances at which it will show you better move. As he analyzes, the program will evaluate each position in the game and find the best move in each position. This will assign a numeric value for each position (i.e., "if white play these changes, it will be better than 0.75 pawns").
The threshold shows the difference between the best line of the game The chess engine finds the movement that was actually played in the game. For example, if you set the "50" threshold value, the program will display an alternative option in each particular case in which the best game line (in the program estimation) is better than the actual movement on half the pawn or more.
So what value do you need to assign a threshold? If you are a beginner chess player, I recommend the value "100", it will force the program to show you the tactical misses where you have lost a specific material (for example, pawn or more). It is unlikely that the novice player will be able to understand why a specific step is better fractional pawn value, and the players should focus on tactics any case, so the "100" setting will work quite beautifully, showing you, the tactical errors that you "have contributed.
For a medium and advanced player, I usually recommend the value "30". Strong chess players and experts computer chess usually assess the tempo loss as the equivalent of about a third of the pawn. Using the "30" value will show these types of temporary loss of the positional error (as well as any other significant errors in position).
Some players use very low values (for example, "1"), but I do not think it will be very useful. If you play the "perfect game" (as if such a thing really existed), most of the moves you play can be improved by chess engine 0.05 to 0.10 pawns, and it's just too close to shave, from which most human players Can get any significant benefit.
Other options
After you install the "time calculation" and "Threshold" parameters, it's time to go to the other switches in this dialog. "Annotations" window allows you to choose various forms that may take annotations. Let's start at the bottom of the list. "Delete old annotations" means this is this - the program will delete any existing annotations in the game Evaluation. If you are previously manually adding any text, symbolic, or graphic comment to the game (or any other previously selected annotated game), this check box will call this comment will be deleted - so use this switch with the mind.
Returning to the top of the list, "Verbose" means that the program will add some conventional language of verbal comment to the game. It is important to note that this comment is very rudimentary - the program will not give nine item the dissertation on why you could not work correctly with the Marotsi structure bind pawns of the enemy. We will show an example of a verbal commentary program a little later.
"Graphic" means that the program will display color arrows and squares on the board, where it deems this comment is necessary. This usually takes the form showing weak squares (according to the color of them), or control the square (for example, you can see many arrows in an isolated walking, with the parts that the attacks and protection that pawn).
"Training" allows the program created by timing the preparation of the question at critical points in the game. These, as a rule, in the form of tactics of tasks in which you are asked to find the best course in position. Please note that the program will not create these questions in each game - in my experience I saw them created once every twenty-twenty-four games I had a program of analysis.
Link database
In the figure above, you will notice that the "Opening of the link" is shown in the half-tone and is not available. This is because I do not assign a "reference database" before I created an illustration. You assign such a database by clicking the button " Reference-DB "Buttons (visible at the bottom of the dialogue) and selecting a database. Selecting" Opening Link "Option will allow you to refuse the program to have debut options from other games to your game account, as shown below:
In this picture you can see where the program has been added three alternative options in the game (as you often see in chess books and magazines) and even prescribed a move of 5 ... E6 as "theoretical novelty" (which is indifferent "T means that 5 ... E6 was necessarily a good move, just that this step was not found in the game database games).
Please note that when choosing a reference database that the database you choose should have the opening of key attached to it in order for this function to work properly. I also found that the function works best if the reference database is one containing games only on the opening used in the game analyzed - otherwise the program sometimes falls into annotations at the very beginning of the game, which is from other non-linked holes.
You can choose any or all parameters in the "Notes" section by selecting one does not "cancel" any other.
The radio buttons in the "Side" window speaks for itself - you can choose a chess engine analysis of both players moving or moving only one player. My strong assumption that you always select "Both" - the program will work much better if you do so, and it is always beneficial for you to see how your opponent could have improved his game, punishing his mistakes.
You can choose only one option in Side, choosing the option here prevents you from choosing any of the others.
Finally, we approached "Storage" options. "Replace" means that the program will physically replace your game into a database with new, annotated option (for example, if you have a game analysis program No. 320 in the database, old games number 320 will be replaced by a new version). "Add" means that the program will add to the game to the database ", making it on" as the last game in the game database list (for example, you analyzing the game number 320 in 2474 game database. The program will analyze Game # 320, leave the current # 320 untouched, and add it analyzed the game to the database, like the 2475th match in the list). The disadvantage of using APPEND is that you end up with the same game twice in the database, as soon as in its original form, and the second time in your annotated form.
Start Analysis
After you set the parameters and selected parameters in this dialog, click the "OK" button and the chess engine will begin to analyze your game. The display screen will change from the "List of Games" window in the main screen of the chessboard. This step is currently evaluated allocated in the designation panel with a dark cursor. If you follow the process within a few minutes you will notice something interesting: the program begins to analyze at the end of the game and works in the opposite direction through the moves. As a program finds the best change, it will insert them into the game to score as possible to reproduce variations. When analyzing the process of completing the program will return to the database "List of Games" display (if you started the analysis process from the list of games, as I recommended above), the allocation cursor Again an annotated game is how you "will know that the process will be completed.
When the analysis is completed, double-click the game account to download the game. You noticed that the program often uses a symbolic comment to show its assessment of the proposed changes and is actually moving. To understand, analysis, you need to know what these characters mean:
You can see how best it is recommended the line by comparing the evaluation of the course actually played with the assessment of the proposed changes in the engine chess:
Here we see an interesting phenomenon: a chess engine will sometimes show weak lines to illustrate the point. In this graphic we see that this step actually played, 18.cxd5 white leaves with essential lead. But if the white captured the black pawns of the D5 with the rook, and not (18.rxd5), it would only stay with an equal game after the black 18 ... A5 answer.
Here is a screenshot of the panel designation to give you an idea of the type comments that the chess engine will provide in ChessProgram interface:
You see that the comment text (created because we have chosen "Verbose", as "Annotations" option) very briefly and is intended mainly to pay our attention to interesting and / or important points in the game. Sometimes the text describes the goal of the movement (as in the case of notes after the seventh stroke of the white and the twelfth stroke of black). In other cases, the comment text program simply warns us about points in which one player is in trouble (white 21 and 23 moves). And sometimes the program will use the text to specify places where the player can improve its game (such as a change in 31 times white).
Now, when we know how the "complete analysis" option works in the chess program interface, we will consider the "fine setting" method analysis and get even more specific information, although in a numerical, and not verbal form. This "BlunderCheck" Analysis will be explained in the second part of this series of articles.
(Part two)
Steve Lopez
In the first part of this series of articles, we looked at the "full analysis" feature in the ChessProgram Chessbase interface (Fritz, Hiarcs, Fish, Junior, and Shredder are used). This feature allows you to analyze your games and will provide general information about where you may have gone wrong in your game. The second form of analysis is called "BlunderCheck", and is largely similar to the "full analysis" of the function. BlunderCheck will analyze your games and show where you (and your opponent) made mistakes, but its exit in digital, and not verbal form. This is the traditional mode of displaying chess analysis; It was around as the first commercial software of the PC chess appeared in 1980. This traditional numerical analysis, in many respects, much more accurate analysis method is that it will show you the exact (up to 1/100 pages) the difference between the move you did, and recommended a step that a chess engine determines to be better. Instead of symbolic annotation, which shows, in general, how much variations are recommended, numerical estimates will show you exactly how your course and recommended lines are different.
Blundercheck
The name "BlunderCheck" indicates that the program will only show you basic mistakes, but this is not the case. This analysis mode was originally conceived as a way for advanced players to check their own analysis, such as a chess writer can comment on the game and use the "BlunderCheck" to show errors in its variations as a means of "double check" its work for "Lyapov" in Your analysis. But "BlunderCheck" is much more useful as a means for medium-sized players to get a more accurate idea that chess engine showing them.
Let's first shown how to create and use the "BlunderCheck" functions, then we will be descibe engine power. Just as in the previous article for "complete analysis", we will adhere to similar first steps to get to the "BlunderCheck" dialogue. After starting your ChessProgram interface, press F3 and select the chess engine you want to use for analysis. After selecting the engine, press F12 to open the game list window. If the proper database is not displayed, go to the File menu and select Open / databases and use the file selection dialog to go to the appropriate folder and database file. Double-click the file name to open the database.
After the list of games is displayed, click once on the game you want to analyze, it will be placed a black cursor band on this entry in the list of games. Now go to the Tools menu, select "Analyze", and then "BlunderCheck" to display the following dialog:
Some parts of this dialogue will be familiar to you (after reading the first part of this series). We have already discussed "Side to analyze", but I repeat my best recommendations to always use "and" - the program works much better in this mode, and it will also warn you to the errors that your opponent has done (and which you could would have been punished).
"Storage" was also discussed in the previous article.
"Exit" This new feature is unique to "BlunderCheck" functions. "Annotations as text" means that the lines play a chess engine recommends will be presented in the form of the text of the annotation - that is, they will look strictly, as the text will not be automatically replayable on a chessboard when you familiarize yourself with the game. Therefore, IStrongly recommend another option: "Annotations as variations". This will be recommended a lines of a chess engine that will be represented as the REPLAYABLE variations (as they appear when you use "full analysis") - you will be able to play variations on a chessboard when you familiarize yourself with the game later.
"Time" Installation is the same as "Calc. Time" in the "full analysis" mode and the same recommendations apply here. Additional setting here "depth", the engine will always analyze to lay a layer of depth that you install in this field - never less, no more. "Time" and "Depth" are mutually exclusive, you can set one or another, but not both. My recommendation is to use the "Time" installation instead of "depth"; The use of the latter often leads to short changes, which were cut into the "coercion" of the line (for example, in a series of checks or seizures).
"Threshold" works in the "BlunderCheck" mode exactly as it does in the "full analysis" and the same recommendations apply here.
A number of flags follow the "threshold" and gives you a good bitch of the latitude of how the chess engine will display its output. "Write full variation" is an interesting setup. When installing this flag, it means that the chess engine will display a complete change (with steps for both sides) when it finds an improvement over that you or your opponent actually played games. If you remove this checkbox, the program will display only the initial step when it finds something better than the game itself. Seeing only the first step is not very profitable for the middle player, you will often find yourself a question: "Why was that better move?" Consequently, I urge you to save this checkbox, so you will see "observations" moves to the better that the initial movement.
"Remove old annotations" works in the same way as in the "full analysis" and applies to the previously annotated game, the program will delete everything before the annotation from GameScore.
"Learning" was described in the previous article, this allows the program to generate timing to prepare issues within its analysis. This, as a rule, occurs approximately every twenty-twenty-four games on average.
"Store ratings" must be checked: This allows the program to add your numerical assessments to change it inserts in GameScore. If you remove this check box, actually wins the whole target "BlunderCheck" function for the middle player. The ability to lower these numerical estimates are included primarily for the grandmaster of the player level, which, presumably, is able to make these assessments by themselves.
"Check the line" says the program to evaluate the steps that were actually playing the game of two players. It should always be checked. Check box "Check variations" for players who want to have a chess engine "Rewrker" any changes they manually add to GameScore; This field is useful for authors / commentators who want to have the engine check their work for errors.
After you set the parameters in this dialog, click the "OK" button. Switching program to the main screen chess board, jump on the last move in the game (as described in the previous article), and the beginning of the analysis. It will be a step back on the game by adding variations and numerical analysis at points where it finds the best game line. When the program finishes the game analysis, it will return to the screen list of games where you will see the game again highlighted in black cursor. Now you can double click on this game to download it and see, analyze the game:
Please note that Fritz (chess engine is used to analyze this particular game) inserted variations of five points in the game on which he found the best step for any player (based on "Threshold" is provided when analyzing the parameters were set). It is interesting to note only the text of the annotation says: "The last move is the book." This means that 4.Be2 was the last step that was found in the opening of the book, which was loaded during the analysis was started. The answer is black, 4 ... A6, was not found in the opening of the book.
To understand, numerical analysis of a chess engine, let's look at one of the options, provided:
Analysis with reference to the seventeenth stroke of black (17 ... Exd5). Numerical analysis is always given from the point of white view, positive figures mean that the position is favorable for white, while negative numbers mean that the position was better for black. In this case, we see that the White uses the advantage of 94 / 100ths from the pawn (0.94) after the actual stroke of the black 17 ... EXD5, this means that the white almost full pawn is ahead according to chess engines. But black could improve 17 ... BXC3 on this game. The program continues to give a recommended option in which it assumes, the best play for both sides. After that, the sequence of moves that ends 22.Qc4, the white will still use the advantage of 44 / 100ths from the pawn - but note that this advantage is significantly less than after the actual move of the game. With 17 ... BXC3, White was almost a full pawn, but in change after 17 ... BXC3, the advantage of white would be less than half of the pawns. Black would reduce the advantage of white exactly half of the pawns (0.94 - 0.44 = 0.50) if he played the bishop capture instead.
The number "13" after numerical estimates of the variation tells us how deep the search was going ahead of the chess engine arrived in this rating. In this case, the engine analyzed the position after 17.d5 at the depth of thirteen layers (half-strokes) to come to its conclusion about how black could have improved their game.
We can easily see how accurately this information is compared to the "full analysis" output. While "full analysis" is a little more readable, "BlunderCheck" gives us more accurate information. We know exactly how much better the variations have actually played in comparison with the go, and we also know exactly how deep the search engine is to arrive at its rating. Consequently, the "full analysis" is well suited for start or inexperienced players, while medium and advanced players will enjoy and benefit from the accuracy of the analysis conducted by "BlunderCheck".
In the final article of this series, we learn how to apply the information engine with the task of improving our own chess game.
(Part Three)
Steve Lopez
In this part, the final contribution to the three series of articles we will look at how you will use a chess engine (for example, Fritz, Rybka, Shredder, Junior, and Hiarcs) to help you improve chess. This will not be a software textbook as such, we will not look at "Click on x to happen" instructions, as we reviewed those in the two previous articles. We instead of studying how you will use the weekend generated by the features of the analysis game to help you improve your chess.
Someone once said that "the first step to the knowledge to recognize their ignorance" that the application is definitely applicable here. In order to make a profit from the chess engine to analyze your games first need to be done (perhaps, painful) recognition that there are a lot about chess that you do not know, but you need to learn. Over the years, I have spoken with more than one user chess programs that used the analysis of the function, as the "ego rocket-carrier", admiring the moves that the chess engine is considered to be "correct", ignoring when unsatisfactory moves (or direct errors) that software The provision is detected. This approach may be "chicken broth for the soul", but the real waste of a valuable tool to improve chess. To get the most out of the engine analysis of your own games, you must first admit that your chess needs to be improved - there is no other way.
In fact, the whole process is based on the fact that you have already decided that something is wrong with your chess and you want to correct errors. What we need to do now is to clarify the process: how will we use the engine generated analysis to improve?
Contrary to the fact that several developer companies would like that no piece of chess software in itself is guaranteed to improve their results in chess. I understand that more than a few players are looking for a "magic bullet": one book or part of the software, which, in itself, make a player of a kind of "moment master". Sorry, but this is a weak hope that it simply will not happen. The fact that we are like players, as students need to be done, it is to find a way to integrate chess research and chess practice into a method for improvement. In fact, that (and intense work it entails) is the key to getting better in chess.
Let's look closer on this idea. Improvement in chess is actually a three-step cycle of processes:
Practice
Analysis
To study
No one part of the software will help you in all three areas. Chess game programs are allocated by you with practice (you can play games at any convenient time) and analysis (you can also have engine analysis engines in your free time). Although some chess programs contain textbooks on various aspects of chess, this is usually focused on absolute beginners and inexperienced players. For a higher level of instructions, suitable for intermediate players, you need to contact books and specialized software training software. This brings us to another important point. Chess books and chess programs are not mutually exclusive of each other, it is fairly easy to combine chess and software using the best of both Effective training environments. We will return to this idea after a while. First, however, we must consider the "training cycle" to understand three processes.
Practice belongs to any chess game you play. As part of the training cycle, "Practice" means not only games that "not in account" (such as games against the computer or the expression of the game you play a chess club or against a friend). "Practice" refers to the practical application of existing chess knowledge, that is, the applications that you know in real conditions of the game. At any time you play chess (as opposed to tactics of solutions of puzzles or "Mat in X" problems, etc.) you practice what you know. That's what we mean by "practice".
Analysis means looking at your games after you play them, consider them to discover the shortcomings in your game. Although it is always nice to look at three stroke combination that won the rival Freak and allowed you to win the last game you played (and we all wanted to admire what we did right), more importantly look at the rest of the game to see Is there anything that we could do better. It is ridiculous that chess has a reputation as a game for egoists, because there are several other classes that require to be how sharply self-critical, like chess requirements.
Study is exactly what the word means: the learning process is new methods in order to correct your flaws. "Study" can mean reading a book on positioning chess, solving tactics problems with CD chess and / or analysis of games of great chess players, these are any actions that we undertake to increase our knowledge about "nuts and bolts" of their own way to play chess.
