Dust 2 was one of the few maps that has seen almost no changes since its initial release. The map fully reflects the whole essence of CS, and in this new version of the map we wanted to emphasize its uniqueness.

The main goals of the developers during the development of the new version of the map:

  • Improved understanding of the location of players on the map.
  • A variety of different travel options.
  • Updating textures in accordance with the standards of modern maps.

Dust II is now available in beta client, we look forward to your feedback.

Below you will find out a few highlights of what has changed in the new version of the map.

Point B - Kasbah.


We have made the tunnel lighter than it was before, now the light penetrates through the broken roof. The wrecked car has been moved slightly, allowing the player to move more freely. The "window" in the wall has become wider. In addition, some objects have been moved outside of the game map so that they do not distract from the game.


Point A - HOTEL AURORA.


We took into account the opinions of the players and made point A more free to move and removed objects that could distract or merge with other players (for example, the dark gate was removed).


Many "annoying objects" such as small rocks and others have been removed from the map as well.

At MIDE, the lighting near the lower tunnel was changed.


A number of other dark doorways have been changed and we have not removed the doors anywhere.

While the gameplay on Dust II never seems to have changed, real art needs some good handling. Point B on the map is now the historical Kasbass (the Arabic name for the citadel), and point A is the bazaar and the Aurora hotel. All textures have been quadrupled. Now, the bad news - 2 pizza places are gone. Good news: pizzeria establishments have been replaced by 2 dental offices. Coincidence? Probably not (a joke from the developers).


The infamous "Leet Krew" terrorist squad, the main villains of Dust II and formerly known as "Durah", have received a model update to match the updated map. We've improved the character models and added high resolution textures to them to be more recognizable, cohesive and iconic seasoned veterans of countless Counter-Strike rounds. Terrorists are still obsessed with world domination. Do you notice that some of the Leet Krew squad are regulars at the new Salon De Coiffeur?

Dust II will eventually evolve into one of the most balanced and iconic maps in CS: GO. In general, the update will be cool, but it will not bring anything significant. Planting and spreading in the majority remained the same as they were.
The usual texture change is not that interesting update that everyone has been waiting for.
Most people thought that not only the textures would change, but also new things that would beautifully decorate the map and make huge changes.

P.s is now a 100% terrorist map. It is very difficult to hide CT and at the same time it is very easy to take point B because now it is easier to shoot people who are on B.

But it's worth noting that Valve could not update give 2 in a way that would change it a lot. This is due to the fact that the card is iconic and it is stupid to change it simply because people come.

How to play the new dust (dust 2)

In order to play you need to turn on the beta version of CS. To do this, right-click on CS: GO on Steam. Select BETA VERSIONS.


You can hardly find such a player who would be fond of Counter-Strike, but did not know about such a map as de_dust 2. This map is considered the most balanced and dynamic, and therefore it is the most popular not only among ordinary users, but and on the professional stage, where no tournament takes place without matches on de_dust 2.
The map itself is a continuation of the original de_dust map, so the meaning remains the same - on the desert map, terrorists must plant a bomb and wait for it to detonate, while the CT needs to either prevent it from being planted, or neutralize the planted explosives before it expires her timer.

The card is very popular for the reason that it is as balanced as possible. First of all, all teams equally quickly get to key points (length, gut at B, center and zigzag at A), which allows everyone to be on an equal footing. The only thing that always and everywhere shifts the balance a little towards one of the teams is that the CTs are defending here, since if after the time of the round they remain alive, and the T do not have time to plant explosives, they will automatically win.

Also, the developers have tried to ensure that almost any weapon can be used on the map. Thus, use can be found for various submachine guns and even shotguns, since there are a large number of closed zones in which you have to face the enemy face to face.

How to proceed on the map?

Each team independently chooses what is preferable for it - to sit back or go into a frontal attack. Terrorists, as mentioned above, are not given such a choice - in any case, they need to go forward, since the enemy can simply passively wait until the end of the round, as a result of which the victory will go to him. At the same time, the STs are already thinking over whether they need to go to meet the terrorists coming at them, or whether it is better to take a defensive position. The most optimal option is to go into a counter-attack immediately with a large group, when you have more chances to crush the enemy and understand where the man with the bombsite went. In addition, if you kill a man with a bombsite and he remains on the ground, the task becomes even easier for you.

How should terrorists act?

For terrorists, the best option is to use detours in order to get to the bombs. It's best not to even try to break into the center unless you have some serious support from an AWP ally. At the same time, do not forget that, leaving the center and going to any of the points, you not only can find yourself under the crossfire of opponents, but also almost always give out your location to the CT team, since you can be seen by the players defending each from the bombs.

As with other maps, you can use a variety of tactics, ranging from rushing in a large group of one zone to a point, and ending with all kinds of cunning tactics, when, for example, 3-4 people go to one site and create the appearance of a rush in order to plant a bomb. while in reality the man with the explosives goes solo to another site and places it there. However, do not forget that this strategy is quite risky.

Counter-terrorist actions

The task of the special forces, first of all, is to protect the bombs, since it is best, in principle, not to allow the bomb to be planted. Even if you manage to neutralize it, the terrorists will still receive a lot of money for the established plant, so in general terms, the round cannot be called that winning. Among other things, the installed bombsite automatically allows terrorists to take a better defensive position.

In the majority of cases, 1-2 people go to B, 2 or more go to A, and the sniper immediately goes to the center to figure out those who will try to break through the central intestine or zigzag. However, you should be careful here, since in many situations the ST sniper gets to the point slower than the T sniper. But, again, there is another feature - the T sniper always shoots from one point, so skillful players can safely shoot it in advance.

Periodically, you can make sudden counterattacking attacks from the start of the round in order to catch your opponent by surprise. Using a combination of defensive and offensive strategies, you make your actions unpredictable, which is already one of the key elements of victory.

Probably the quintessential CS: GO map, Dust II, has been a classic ever since its first appearance. This map captures the essence of CS, and in its new release we would like to celebrate its purest shape and smooth out existing rough edges. Our goals for updating the map are as follows:
- Improved player readability throughout the map
- Improving the clarity of the surrounding world, including all visible surfaces
- Improved visuals to match the look of most updated maps.

Bomb Site B - Citadel


A number of excessively dark areas in the Tunnels have been corrected by natural light streams that penetrate into the interior, through the partially destroyed roof. The car that was wrecked on the very site was slightly shifted, opening up more space for the player in that zone. The hole in the wall, the so-called "Window", is now widened, and once the difficulty of moving in this zone has been smoothed out. And after this change, on the Scaffolding, in general, they simplified the design, removed from there all the extra metal pipes that were blocking your ordered one-by-one murders. In addition, several electrical poles have been removed outside of the map to reduce minor distractions while maintaining visual fidelity.


Bomb Site A - Hotel Aurora





Taking into account the opinions of the players, it should now become easier to open Site A for the reason that the redrawn wall has replaced the dark, spoiling the view, doorways. Corner zones for catching enemies (length, kt) have also been improved, with the exception of annoying drain pipes.

There are a number of changes in the middle of the map, starting with improved lighting in the Lower Tunnel, in order to catch these campers out of dark corners.



Several other dark passageways have also been illuminated, and this "neither this nor that" door surface has been replaced. With fewer recesses and corners of the map to get stuck in, players will have more time to focus on the things that really matter.

Appearance

While the gameplay on de_dust2 does not age over the years, its appearance requires a good artistic shake.
Side B is now the historic Citadel ("Kasbah") under restoration, while site A is the major bazaar and hotel (Hotel Aurore). Texture quality has been quadrupled, and all community maps are supported for South Africa. Now for the bad news: Two entrances to Pizza have been removed from the map. The good news: these have been replaced by two dentist offices. Coincidence? I do not think.


New character models

The acclaimed Leet Krew, the classic Dust II villains formerly known as the Durah Gang, have received cosmetic bonuses to match the revamped environment. These terrorist models have received improved texture quality to be more recognizable, cohesive and iconic; battle-hardened veterans of countless rounds of CS, and still obsessed with world domination. You will notice that some of the members of the revamped Leet Krew are regulars at the new Salon De Coiffeur.

A series of overly dark spots in the tunnels were viewed, with natural light pouring in through the collapsed, torn roof. The broken car on the site has also been slightly shifted to allow players to move more freely. The hole in the wall, "Window", has been widened and easier to move around. Behind that alone, Scaffold has been simplified with no metal pipes to stand in the way of your next piece. In addition, several electrical poles have been moved outside of the play area to remove unnecessary distractions without compromising visual accuracy.


PLENT A - HOTEL AURORA


Based on the player's opinion, the entry frags at Site A have been improved as the back wall is now without dark doorways. Corner peaks have also improved with the removal of annoying drain pipes.


Broken cars on And now - one car with an increased number of players around and on it. Experienced players will no longer have to worry about whether they are going to be there, and newbies will not have to wonder if they will be burned. The annoying physics-based detritus props have also been replaced with more predictable static details such as weeds and rocks.
