It is good for recreation all year round.

The Dominican Republic is the second largest country in the Caribbean

Visa-free entry to the Dominican Republic

Russian citizens can visit the Dominican Republic without first obtaining a visa if they enter for tourism purposes. But tourists from Russia, but who have citizenship of Belarus or Kazakhstan, will need to apply for a visa in advance at the Embassy.

It is also important to take into account that the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from the country.

To register, a Russian tourist needs to fill out a migration card, which is often issued on the plane during the flight, pay a tax fee and contact the local migration control office. You need to apply to the same department to extend the time of stay in the country.

Only the national currency is officially accepted in the country; unofficially, in the shops of Punta Cana, you can pay in dollars. All major credit cards are accepted: Visa, Master Card, American Express, etc. If you are visiting Juan Dolio, please be aware that there are no banks and there is no way to get cash from a credit card on site. Souvenirs

The best Dominican souvenirs

The country's tourist zones offer tourists numerous boutiques and souvenir shops, where you can buy various products made of wood, bone, amber, larimar, ceramics, coffee, rum, cigars, Tainos Indian souvenirs, Creole dolls.

The most popular rum brands are produced by Tremya B, Bermudez, Barcelo and Brugal. The most famous varieties: Aniversario, Don Armando (at Bermúdez); Barceló Cream, Añejo, Gran Añejo, Gran Platinum, Imperial (from Barceló) and Añejo, Extra Viejo, XV, Titanium (from Brugal).

The most popular cigars are made by Ashton, La Aurora, Macanudo, Arturo Fuente and Montecristo. Do not buy cigars from street or beach vendors, they will most likely be fake. Good quality genuine cigars cost between US $ 4 and US $ 15 or more per item.

Fans of Latin American dances can buy discs with salsa and marenghe as a keepsake.

In Santo Domingo, there are the largest commercial centers where you can buy clothes, shoes, light industry products from national and foreign firms of good quality and at affordable prices. When buying, you can bargain.

Hotels

In the Dominican Republic, all hotels are classified and have an official star rating. As a rule, this classification corresponds to the list of services provided by the hotel. A characteristic feature of rest in almost all hotels is the "all inclusive - all inclusive" catering system. included three meals a day, snacks at any time, local drinks (any), beach non-motorized entertainment.

Guests of one complex can travel from one hotel to another hotel, but the clients of another complex will not be allowed to enter someone else's territory. You need to buy a Guest Card worth 60-80 USD. If tourists want to visit the SPA center located in another hotel, then TEZ TOUR guides will come to the rescue. In such cases, the guides negotiate with the nearest hotel with spa services, and tourists are met at the entrance to the hotel and escorted to the spa center. In this case, the client only pays for the use of the spa.

Transport

There is no bus service in Bavaro and Punta Cana. If you wish to leave the hotel grounds, you can only travel by taxi. Taxis in Playa Bavaro are not hard to find. As a rule, taxi ranks are located at the entrance to each complex, or a taxi is called to a tourist at the hotel reception or a porter - this service is free. The fare is a little strange: 1 minute - $ 1. At the same time, taxi drivers do not have a taximeter. There is also a motto concho, a motorcycle taxi. We do not recommend using this type of transport due to its insecurity.

Telephones

So, you have arrived in the Dominican Republic, most likely at the Punta Cana airport. You need to find a vending machine for “tourist cards”. It has the corresponding inscription “tourist cards” or “tarjeta del tourista” (this is in Spanish). In it we buy this document. A $ 10 bill is better to stock up in advance.

Even if you go first, you will still be waiting for all other travelers near the bus. You have a group transfer, everyone is waiting for the very last person to go to the hotel.

You can also choose which currency to pay in, or 10 dollars, or 10 euros. Just in case, if you do not have the American currency, but the European currency is available, then you can pay with it.

After that, the "tourist card" must be filled in, which causes difficulties for many, since there are no inscriptions in Russian in it. All explanatory notes are in English and Spanish. The fact that it's not free is even more daunting. There are people at Punta Cana airport who will fill it for you for a modest $ 5.

The form of the document changes frequently and, perhaps, you will receive in your hands a copy that is not exactly the one we are giving.

The map has two parts. The upper (large) one will be taken from you when passing through passport control. The second (lower) will be left to you, and you should keep it with you until the end of the trip.

The procedure for filling in the upper part of the tourist card to the Dominican Republic. Click on the photo to enlarge.

First column (1) intended for your last name... Rewrite exactly from your foreign passport in Latin letters. For example, "IVANOV"

In the second column (2) write in your name just like in the passport. For example, “IGOR”.

Third line (3) intended for your date of birth... We write first the day, then the month and then the last two digits of the year. An example is “16 06 83”.

On the fourth line (4) need to write your citizenship... Write “RUSSIA” or “RUSSIAN”.

In one of the squares at number five (5) you need to check the box indicating what's your gender... Don't be confused, the top box is a man and the bottom box is a woman.

Sixth Line (6) write your passport number... Rewrite from your passport. The space between the series and the number can be left or not. As you wish. An example is “76 984562”.

On the seventh line (7) write in your flight number... An example is “SU152”.

Eighth field (8) - this is country of your residence... Write “RUSSIA”.

In the ninth field (9) need to write your permanent residence address... Nobody will check the spelling, write whatever you want. Example “Moscow, ulitsa Stroiteley, 25-17”.

Tenth field (10) seems mysterious to many. This is clarifying information about region of your residence... Americans write the name of their state here. You can write “Samarskaya oblast” or “Moscowskaya oblast” or simply “Moscow”.

In the eleventh column (11) you need to provide the name and address of your hotel. Write only the name of the hotel, there will be no complaints against you.

Twelfth Earl (12) - your occupation... Write “worker” or “manager”, nobody will check.

Field number thirteen (13) - marital status... Left square - not married (not married), right - married (married).

Number fourteen (14) need to indicate purpose of your visit to the Dominican Republic. Check the box in the upper left box. It means "rest." Of course, the Dominicans translated the Spanish word “recreo” into English in a peculiar way. The English word “pleasure” literally translates as “pleasure”.

The picture on the left shows a correctly completed “tourist card”. You can use it as a reference.

Fifteenth line (15) misleads many with its Spanish name “FIRMA”. The main thing is not to write here the name of the company in which you work! Here you need put your signature.

And in the last sixteenth column (16) you need to indicate how many days will you stay in the Dominican Republic.

The bottom is filled in a little differently. Fields (1), (2), (3) and (4) exactly the same, this surname, first name, date of birth and citizenship.

In the fifth column (5) need to indicate your departure destination from the Dominican Republic. That is, we indicate the city to which we will fly back. Write “MOSCOW”, “SAINT-PETERSBURG” or “EKATERINBURG”.

In the sixth column (6) write return flight number home.

On the seventh line (7) write departure date... That is, the day, month and year when you will fly out of the Dominican Republic.

See the photo on the left for an example of the correct filling of the second part of the “tourist card”. Click on the photo to enlarge.

You keep this part with you and keep it until your departure from the Dominican Republic to your homeland. You will need to present it at passport control. Better just put it in your passport so as not to lose it.

Most importantly, don't put it in your luggage. This is the most common problematic situation, as baggage is checked in before passport control.
