How to play?

First of all, the question: did any of you participate in the psychological playing games? Today, as I promised, I tell about one such game in which I was lucky to take part - the game "Royal Yard".

So, the yard was ready. The monarchy is absolute, the role of Vanya prescribed:

King - himself;

Queen - Sitting on the first row in front of him large and, apparently, a very confident woman;

Prince, Princess and favorite left the same, since they no longer object;

A whipping boy called another guy (by the way, a student of Litvaka), who himself initially rushed into this role;

A girl for whipping - me (without explanation - I got them at the end).

On this Litvak completed the distribution, saying that Vanya thinks too long in my opinion, he thought quickly - I would have fallen into a stupor). And sent to the places of all, except for the king (Vanya) and Queen.

Asked exactly "His" Queen Vanya chose and does not want to change the decision until it is too late. Vanya, after a minute silence, said that

Honestly, board game "Royal Yard" It turned out to be absolutely unexpected in my field of view: the original called Castle It was released in a distant 2000, when I knew only the "monopoly" from the tank, and the localization suddenly appeared. But on the cover there are all the well-known surnames Fayetti (the author of the "Citaadel" nor a lot of the best game for the company "Tombcoming" 2010, and fresh) and Laja (, Mare Nostrum), which in itself is already inspiring optimism. The benefit of waiting was fully justified.

Components of the game

In size, the box is standard for Hobby Games, exactly the same as the "citadel" or "Condoter". By the way, the cover was reworked in the Russian edition, the icons on the card were added, and in general the components became brighter and pretty.

Inside the box we are waiting for quite a bit of the components, unfortunately, without an organizer.

The playing field is 4 sheets of thick paper, each of which symbolizes one of the four walls of the castle.

Character maps (just 56 pieces, many in a single copy), except for special abilities written directly on the map, are distinguished by the zone of the game field, where they can be uploaded:
- courtyard, inside the castle walls;
- walls themselves;
- towers, 4 pieces at the corners of the field;
- approach, unlimited field outside the castle.

There are still cards of knights that are played over other cards in any zone of the game field and protect the lower card from any external influences.

Multicolored tokens (total 5 different colors) denote the "owner" of the card - the one who played it and who will be forced to pick it up in her hand if the card will leave the playing field for some reason. Packets, by the way, walked with the game that pleases.

Game process

Before the party, each player receives a certain number of cards on the hand, some part put on a closed in his personal deck, and all unused cards are located near the game field as a publicly available reserve. Play can from 2 to 5 players and the fewer people, the more cards in the end will be each of them in their hands. Then you need to lay out on the table 4 walls of the lock and you can start.

The main goal of the game is to get rid of all cards on your hand before and in your personal deck. To do this, the player can make 2 actions in any combination of choice: take a map from your deck in hand, change the card with your hands on the card from the general reserve, play a map with your hands on the field and apply its property. Many cards with their properties return other cards in the hand of their owner, some allow you to move cards on the field, and some on the contrary protect against these effects, the same knights, for example. There are more cunning characters, like, a wizard who can throw off any card in the game in a reserve, or a spy that can change in places tokens on the field at its discretion. In general, options and strategies may be mass.

Impression

Table game "Royal Yard" Something is reminded by the already mentioned "Citadel" of the same Fayetti: at the beginning of the party, everyone is trying to come up with how to win, and in the end everything ends at how not to let the opponent won. But if in the "citadel" everyone killed in his sandbox, laying out quarters in front of them, then in "Royal Yard" All players are constantly pushed with elbows, because the location of the card has no less than the order of their draw. Yes, what is there, in each zone there is less space than the cards of the corresponding type in the deck, so it's not worth hope for a draw.

The game is an excellent example of external compactness and inner depth. There is something to think about, there is a scope for a maneuver and bluff, although the time of the party is only about half an hour. Excellent choice of game for localization. Never regretted the new acquisition in the collection.
