About once every two to three months, Wargaming releases a new patch for World of Tanks. The most recent (September 2014) update 9.2 was released on July 29, 2014. Less than two months later, Wargaming prepared a new patch 9.3. Testing for update 9.3 is in full swing. Players of the RU-cluster can try “fresh” light tanks in battle, as well as experience the new “punitive system” on themselves. In addition, the update will have interesting advantages for premium tanks, the characteristics of a couple of fan cars (British self-propelled guns FV304, American tank destroyer M18) will deteriorate, and the popular KV-1C will be removed from the game. Rather, this level 6 supertank will be divided into 2 tanks, as was the case with the usual HF. But every time a patch is released, players have to update the game. How to update World of Tanks and do it right?

Actually, there are two ways to update the World of Tanks game:

  • through the game launcher;
  • using the special client.patch.download file.

We will analyze both methods and determine how best to update the game.

However, for starters, it is worth saying that all updates must be downloaded only from the official website of the game http://worldoftanks.ru. By downloading patches from other sites or torrents, you expose your game account to the risk of being “hijacked”. A few patches ago, the game was updated in another way: the patch was downloaded as a regular exe-file and installed on top of the client. Wargaming refused this update method, since subsequent conversion of game files took a huge amount of time, and after installing an exe-shnik, the game client often “failed”.

So, if a new patch is released, then you can update the client as follows: start the game launcher and wait for the files to load.

Launcher will automatically download all the necessary files and install the update.

The volume of updates can reach three gigabytes. So if you have slow internet, downloading updates for the game will be delayed. At the same time, you have a choice: directly download the new patch files from the Wargaming server or use torrent to update.

Another way to update the game client is as follows: you download a special file in the format "name of the patch_client.patch.download" and copy it to a special folder of the game client. After downloading the client.patch.download file, you need to copy it to the Updates directory, which is located on the path C: / Games / World_of_Tanks. After that, you need to start the game launcher, and updates will be automatically installed.

The answer to the question of how to update WoT has been received. It remains to remember some useful tips. When updating the game client, it is better to disable the firewall and antivirus, as well as all programs that consume the Internet in "unlimited quantities" - torrent clients and downloaders. The fewer programs load the Internet channel, the faster you update the client. As for the time for installing new updates, it all depends on their volume and the hardware of your computer. Sometimes the installation can drag on for half an hour.

  1. Added personal reserves to accelerate development on the "Front Line":
  - In the framework of the general test, a new type of personal reserves was added, increasing the amount of front-line experience for the ranks received in battles in the Front Line mode.
  - Reserve: + 100% to front experience per battle for 1 hour.

Disabling allied damage.

Disabled allied damage with shots and rams for all types of Random Battles, including General Battle.

  . The mechanism for the interaction of high-explosive fragmentation shells with self-propelled guns has been reworked.
  . The game rules will be amended accordingly, which will come into force after the release of this update.

Tank premium account.

The logic for accruing a controlled bonus to experience for a tank premium has been reworked. Now, additional experience will be awarded to the crew according to the same rules as it is awarded for a battle:
  a) If the checkbox for accelerated crew training is not turned on (or absent) before the start of the battle, then part of the experience goes to the crew, the rest is credited to the equipment.
  b) If the checkbox for accelerated crew training is enabled, then all experience is distributed among the crew.
  . The conditions under which the bonus can be applied have been changed (all of the following should be observed):
  c) The last victorious battle on the selected machine.
  d) This car is in the Hangar (not sold, rent not completed, etc.)
  e) A full crew is sitting on it, on which the battle was held.
  f) The current state of the accelerated crew training checkmark is the same as it was before the start of the battle.

The detection point was balanced on the Robin map: the trees that interfered with reconnaissance from the positions of the northern team were removed.

Changes in wheel technology.

The optimization of engine mode settings has been carried out.
  a) When switching driving modes, wheeled vehicles will no longer lose engine traction. This is especially true when switching the driving mode from maneuverable to high-speed. With this switch, there will no longer be a slowdown before acceleration. Now in such cases, the car just starts to accelerate to a higher speed.
  . When changing the driving modes of the wheeled vehicle, the wheels now rise and fall more realistically.
  . The optimization of motion physics settings has been carried out.
  b) In case of collision of wheeled vehicles with obstacles, in some cases it will become easier to regain control of the trajectory.
  . Added the ability to switch the modes of movement of wheeled vehicles during the pre-combat countdown. A similar opportunity will also be available for Swedish tank destroyers.

Interface changes.

Added the ability to disable the wheel speedometer through the settings of the game client. The indication of driving modes is duplicated on the damage panel.
  . Added the ability to enable / disable the auto-sight marker for all types of equipment through the settings of the game client (through the tab with the settings of markers). The auto-marker can be turned on / off separately for the main and alternative marker modes. The setting is valid for all cars, including wheeled ones (that is, the auto-aiming marker for wheeled vehicles can be turned off in the same way).

Today we talk about the rebalance of USSR technology.

In update 9.22 we will bring back to life the most unpopular tanks of the nation by adding new equipment and changing the research tree of the USSR. Why is this needed? “Object 263” and its “younger comrades” rarely participated in battles, as did the Soviet Tier X of the “Object 430” level, which is not surprising. It was not easy to play them. In addition, cars of different levels differed too much in gameplay.

We plan to process the mentioned branches of technology in order to breathe life into the listed machines and make the game consistent and understandable on them. In addition, in version 9.22 you will find new gameplay on heavy tanks of VIII -X levels with a rear turret.

And now let us dwell in more detail on the changes and the reasons that led to them.

  Medium tanks

Branch A -43 does not give an idea of \u200b\u200bwhich machine will play at level X. After getting acquainted with all the advantages and disadvantages of the ST with the rear location of the tower at the VII-IX level, it was logical to expect a similar gameplay on the top of the branch. However, instead, you received a classic melee medium tank and were disappointed. Naturally, the popularity of the branch fell.

If you are in the process of exploring the branch that leads to Object 430, keep in mind that this machine with exit 9.22 will “move” to another branch (which will be pumped from the T-44). Consider this information.

What will make this branch give a second chance? Perhaps what she lacked: a gameplay sequence. This is what we focused on in update 9.22, moving Object 430 to tier IX. There, he will form a mini-branch of well-armored assault STs with high one-time damage, pumped from the T-44. And at X level a completely new machine will appear: “Object 430U”.

A beginner can boast of compact dimensions, decent mobility and good booking. He will easily enter the flank of the enemy, disable his equipment due to high one-time damage and get out of the fire unscathed.

The trio with the rear tower will eventually get a top that will inherit the strong armor of the tower and offer a logical after “Object 430 Option II”  gameplay


  A new branch of heavy tanks

Until recently, Britain and Germany were the only nations where TTs at level X had a rear turret arrangement. Some of you liked these cars, while others preferred a more traditional version. However, few would undertake to claim that FV 215b, Pz.Kpfw. VII and VK 72.01 (K) (which was issued for playing on the Global Map) were uninteresting. In update 9.22, Soviet technology will join this group: a new gaming experience awaits you from the classic Soviet “heavy bands” at levels VIII-X (a branch learned from IP). Classic but with a rear turret.

The well-armored IS-Ms, Object 705 and Object 705A will receive higher one-time damage than usual with Soviet heavy tanks. This value is compensated by the aiming parameters: these vehicles are not suitable for long-range shootings. Their element is battles at medium and close range. However, this is not the main thing - the rear location of the tower is important. In combination with strong armor, good mobility (for this type of equipment) and a powerful weapon, it will allow you to easily "re-shoot" the enemy.

Use the advantages of your car - and you can effectively support the attack or send breaking tanks of the enemy into the Hangar. The gameplay of these TTs is a cross between a game on Pz.Kpfw. VII and IS-7, but at the same time it remains unchanged as the branch is studied. What can not be said about firepower: from a 122 mm gun at Tier VIII to a powerful 152 mm gun at the Object 705A.

Players love the mobile assault T-10, which quickly shifts the focus of attack, blowing everything in its path. However, no matter how good he was, he did not fit into the IS-3 and IS-7 group, so we replaced it with “Object 257”. Do not worry, the T-10 will not leave the game. Over the years, he has repeatedly proved his effectiveness, so he will get a mini-branch, where at the X level there will be a car with similar gameplay. We continue to work on this newcomer, so we'll talk about him later.


  Alternative PT-SAU branch

We have long planned to put this branch of the tank destroyer in order. A simple change in the parameters of the machines did not give the expected result. We are well aware of the problem, and we have found a new solution for it: rebalance of the branch in the assault tank destroyers of medium-close combat.

Concept

  • High forward / backward speed combined with average maneuverability will allow these machines to quickly reach key positions and occupy them, as well as escape from under fire.
  • Good frontal armor is ideal for blocking enemy shells, however the armor of the sides and lower frontal part is rather thin.
  • Average one-time damage and long recharge will compensate for mobility and security.
  • Accuracy and time information are designed for effective combat from close and medium distances and are not suitable for firing from a long distance.
  • Not the most comfortable gun declination angles are caused by design features.

The branch rebalance in accordance with the given concept required some structural changes. We started by transferring “Object 263” to a lower level, where it will be able to prove itself due to its damage per minute and reservation (after all, it remains the same, as at X level!). The next step is to choose the appropriate machine for X level, and this role was approached “Object 268 Option 4”. He received good speed, armor and an extremely effective weapon with a caliber of 152 mm and an average one-time damage of 650 units.

"Object 263" and “Object 268 Option 4”  showed excellent results in internal tests. The vehicles “tanked” the damage well and showed themselves worthy in the role of assault PT-SPGs - fast, armored, with moderate one-time damage and not too high damage per PT-SPG.

You were against moving Object 263 to Tier IX, and we could not ignore it. Therefore, we left both machines for another iteration of closed internal testing. “Object 263” has not changed, but we have reduced one-time damage “Object 268 Option 4”  from 750 to 650 units, retaining the previous damage per minute to smooth out a sharp change in one-time damage and reload speed between Tier VIII and X vehicles.


The last (and probably the most difficult) task was to set up vehicles at medium levels for the role of assault tank destroyers of close and medium combat. SU-122-54 did not fit into this concept because of the traditional layout of the cabin. Here we were faced with a difficult choice: the car was clearly not suitable for the branch in terms of gameplay, but it was important from a historical point of view. We moved her one level down to see how she shows herself there. Unfortunately, the car showed low efficiency in blocking damage even at level VIII and still did not fit into the concept of the gameplay of the branch. Therefore, we decided to remove the SU-122-54 from the game and make a branch entirely of cars with the rear location of the tower.


The second iteration of the supertest strengthened our belief that the concept that we chose for the branch would give these tank destroyers what they lacked. It should be armored fast cars with good one-time damage, the purpose of which is to lead the breakthrough and provide interesting gameplay. The latter assumption is based on supertest data. We want you to test this hypothesis yourself, determine if any other changes are needed, and together we will make the best decision. Let's wait until the general test of update 9.22 begins and find out how ready the machines of this branch are for battle!

For the upcoming 2018, the developers of World of Tanks have a lot of plans. The closest one is the 9.22 World of Tanks update release. The main emphasis in it is made on Soviet technology. Branches of PT, ST and TT cardinally change.

General test update 9.22

The general test update 9.22 is scheduled for release in February 2018.

By the numerous requests of the players, the branch of the Soviet TD with the rear cutting will be redesigned. Of course, the main prize here is Object 263 - a powerful and interesting machine, however, the branch itself is generally problematic and unplayable. Therefore, the developers planned such changes:

  • SU-101 and SU-101M1 remain in their places, however, they will be modernized.
  • SU-122-54 will disappear from the pumped branch. This machine does not correspond to the logic of branch development, having a standard felling arrangement, weak armor and a relatively low amount of XP. Due to these design features, the machine could not compete on equal terms with most classmates.
  • Object 263 "moves" to level 9.
  • Object 268 Option 4 - will be a new top.

Changes are planned for the branch of medium tanks. In particular, the game will develop 3 branches with unique gameplay and combat characteristics:


Good news awaits fans of Soviet heavy bands. Starting from KV-13, an additional line of heavy tanks with aft turret will be developed. There will be 3 brand new cars: IS-2Sh, Object 705 and Object 705A.


By many characteristics, these machines resemble the legendary IS-7, but offer a fundamentally new gameplay.

New prem tanks

The developers plan to carry out large-scale work on premium tanks with a low level of battles. Often, beneficiaries are equally unable to oppose classmates. This is due to the fact that the pumped equipment is regularly improved, and the characteristics of prem tanks are not changed. This problem requires a comprehensive solution, however, it needs to be implemented gradually to avoid imbalance in the game.

Game modes

New game modes will be added to the game, which will help to make the gameplay more vivid and saturated. In addition, changes are expected in many rank-and-file battles that have liked. Here, game mechanics will be slightly reworked, which will allow us to achieve healthy competition at key stages. In particular:

  • Chevrons will be obtained by players from both teams, however, more chevrons will rely on the winners.
  • The ranking system will be increased, but will retain the overall concept of the second season.
  • The received ranks will now be saved even after unsuccessful battles, but players will have to defend their current status on the battlefields.
  • The duration of the stages will be increased, therefore, you will not have to sit all day at the computer in order to achieve certain results. This decision is aimed at the effectiveness of the players.

What to Expect in Update 9.22

In addition to the above changes, other improvements are planned in the game, changes in the development branches and much more.

How Bonds Will Be Earned

Planned new options for obtaining an alternative game currency. Now the bonuses are being received for epic awards and achievements obtained when playing on machines of 9-10 levels. In addition, you can earn currency in the general battle mode and on the global map. However, mindful of their promises, the developers have planned several additional ways to get hold of bonuses, and are considering the possibility of spending them on the purchase of equipment and the modification of the appearance of the machines.

Events

In 2018, new atmospheric events will appear in the World of Tanks, similar to New Year’s Offensive and Leviathan’s Invasion. A more extensive list of available rewards will be implemented here, including the opportunity to receive bonuses for certain achievements. What's new?

UK Tank Destroyers

The British fixed-line artillery tank destroyer was not popular due to booking vulnerabilities. In update 9.21, we will improve their frontal and airborne booking, so they can take their place among the assault tank destroyers. These changes should strengthen their role as fire support vehicles that can block damage and “grind” the enemy due to their high rate of fire.
New British car at level X:.

Not very well suited to play the role of an assault machine capable of accepting close combat. But this role was supposed to be a hallmark of the branch, especially after processing. In order for the gameplay of British tank destroyers to be consistent for the entire branch, we replaced the “broads” with the FV217 Badger. The newcomer will inherit all the distinguishing features from his predecessors, but will have higher firepower and armor, offering a unique gaming experience at the X level.

If you have already purchased FV215b (183), then with the release of update 9.21, it will remain with you and will be transferred to the category of special machines. You will also receive Badger for free.

New heavy tanks of France

A new branch of France’s heavy tanks will begin with a car. Each newcomer will have two top guns to choose from: the first with higher one-time damage, and the second with a higher rate of fire, which will allow players to abandon the “shot and hide” tactics that the heavy tank game of France often imposed. But that's not all: the new trinity is distinguished by a decent thickness of the frontal armor of the hull and turret. An excellent angle of declination of the guns and a decent margin of safety will allow you to stay alive in the midst of battle, as well as contribute to the victory of the team.

Start exploring the new French heavy tank line with the AMX M4 mle. 54. He has a fairly strong frontal armor and offers a choice of two top guns, on which your playing style will completely depend. A quick-firing 120-mm gun will make you a real “tank destroyer” from the second line. Love to exchange melee shots? Your choice is a 130 mm gun with high one-time damage. Choose the weapon that suits your style of play. And if you get tired of playing with one, just install another.

New map for general battles

If you examined each bush on the Nebelburg map and repeatedly asked to expand the list of available maps for general battles, version 9.21 will please you with a size of 1.4 by 1.4 km. This new arena was created specifically for the type of battle "General Battle", it is also available standard and oncoming fights. This map will take tank battles to North America and plunge you into the atmosphere of tales of the gold rush in Alaska and the Yukon. New mechanics for changing appearance

As you already know, during 2018 we will rework the mechanics of changing the appearance of the equipment into a more complex system, which will allow you to give your car a unique style. Update 9.21 lays the foundation for this by adding styles and designating machine zones that you can change yourself. Now you can separately paint the hull, turret, gun, chassis and mask of the gun, choose the size of camouflage and give your car a unique look using various effects.
